I am wanting a new laptop.
Primarily for the Internet, not games etc.
What do I need and where do I buy from, a little out of the loop at the moment.
Budget £300 Max £400 (Imagine I can get what I need but advice needed)
Thanks in advance...........

You can get netbooks (10" , great battery life, very light) for under £250 now at a decent spec. I much prefer mine to my supposedly superior 17" laptop.

I'm on a Dell Inspiron 1525 in Sunshine Yellow, cost £580 but the range starts at about £300 I believe. Fast and reliable, although very creaky and the lovely silver finish comes off all to easily. Also my touchpad is unreliable, but that's down to me spilling beer on it

Hi mate i work in this field and im forever having to keep up with specs checking price here there and everywhere. stay away from the cheap brands! thats my first bit of advice! im forever seeing these cheap pieces of crap comming in for repair! failing on X Y Z Dell do some great stuff, but spares are the downfall on these machines! especially on the LCD panels in ALL dell machines! if out of warranty and you want to replace a dell screen it isnt as simple as just going out and buying any screen due to the fact dell pre programme all there screens which can be costly! but other than that they are a reasonable machine for a reasonable price Brands i would normally recommend are HP/Acer (1st and 2nd biggest sellers in the world) dell are 3rd Or sony if you can afford it (there warranty is brilliant and i dont see many of these in for repair) There are Pro's and cons to every brand! and not everyone will agree on the samething as some people will of had bad experiences with HP ACER DELL aswell. Hope that helps abit any questions feel free to PM me and ill help as best as i can Regards David

Have a look at that place on Leeds Road at Deighton behind the two garages. If we are allowed to name names it is Laptops Direct behind the Merc garage. If we aren't then revert to Line one :-) I bought one from there three years ago - an ASUS. It has been as good as gold - apart from when I dropped it at T5 LHR and smashed the screen:-(
