Non-Town related - Laptop advice

I'm in the market for a new laptop. Apparently I need lots of memory, high RAM spec (probably about 2Gb) and a fast processor.

Any advice? Budget in the region of £500.

The kind of laptop you need will be determined by what you want it to do?


Gaming?? Masses of RAM

etc etc


What do you want it to do?

Incidentally what you want it to do will directly affect cost.

If you want it for Graphic Design for example you need a lot of RAM and a powerful graphics card.

Naturally this will push the price up.

In which case you want a big Hard Drive and 2GB RAM min.

You can pick something up quite cheap.

Laptops Direct have been mentioned and i have used them when im not too worried about spec. for customers.

got mine from tesco... ive no idea about this techno babble but its HP and it was only £379

reading from the box it has 1.9ghz dual core something, 2048MB of DDRambo or something... and a screen and keyboard, which come in handy
