Soulseek is still pretty good but any ideas of other options without spyware/ads for downloading mp3 files? Discounting DC ++ because that does my head in. Thank you if you have any advice.

If you want albums, you won't find a better solution than Bit Torrents. You could always try direct HTTP sites (but you'd have to buy a rapidshare a/c) as well. But Bit torrent is probably the best way. Utorrent is probably the best client for it as well.

DC++ is one of the best around. If you can afford £5-10 per month extra then a subscription to a Newsgroup such as Usenet is worthwhile

DC++ is one of the best around. If you can afford £5-10 per month extra then a subscription to a Newsgroup such as Usenet is worthwhile If you use BT then you can use usenet for nada as they use Giganews servers. You'll get a max of 1.4Mbps and 3 connections but seeing as i get a max of 1.7Mbs on my connection it's perfect for me. I used to be on a faster connection and paid for a premium news server , but i was also downloading upto 250Gb a month. I think BT get a bit stroppy if you take the piss on downloads. Anyhoos, bt's newsgroupsserver address is:- news.btinternet.com in case anyones interested. and theres always indexing sites such as newzbin for as little as 30p a week to take the hastle out of downloading headers from the different groups ( if you can find anyone to introduce you to newzbin that is) Forgot to mention that BT is a rip off in the first place, but i'm stuck with em for now

like Terrier_Army said, if it's albums/games/films/software your after, use a Torrent client. i use uTorrent as the client, and mininova.org for the specific torrents. For single songs, i'd recommend Limewire Pro. can download it for free from mininova.org hope this helps
