XP transfer onto Vista

I am just about to buy a new computer with Vista Home Premium already loaded ....... What i need to know is, how easy or hard it is to transfer my,documents,pics and music from my old computer with XP to the new one with Vista .... I am not a complete beginner but at the same time no Bill Gates ... Any help please ?

Networks can occasionally be a bit of a pain to set up but should be pretty straightforward . I suppose the easiest way is just to use a usb stick or burn the stuff to a disc and transfer it that way.

If you've got a router you can connect both to it, if not buy a cross-over cable and connect both together.


In Explorer on the XP machine right click on C: select sharing and security and create a share.

When you explorer the network from the Vista machine you should see the XP machine and be able to access it.
