Yes, lived in US from 1978 to 2005. I was amazed at the price of things in the UK. Didn't realize other parts of Europe were even more exorbitant.

Lived in Cyprus and even with the Strong Pound they used to have it wasn't the same. Beer got to uk prices but when council tax was £50 A YEAR it put it in perspective for me. Half Price fags, and cheap food. You can live alot cheaper.. Surprised at Belgium though - I thought that London was the most expensive city in the world now..?

It may be reputed to be. I have lived there too and of the two my living costs here in Brussels are higher than they were in London.
For example, there is a misconception that at £1.12 for diesel (i paid this in Leeds when living there) was considerably more than you pay anywhere else in Europe.
Poland pay the same as us in the UK. Belgium pay the same as us in the UK.
My food bills are far higher than they were in the UK.
Having lived and worked all over the world i am sometimes for too critical but i do know we have it good.
Bizarre that the population of the city referred to as the capital of Europe is outnumbered by those from french speaking African countries, Algerians, Moroccans and Turkish.
And dont get me started on the way they speak French!!!
