nice to see the british public choose the right person for once and hurrah for bobby robson. it takes something pretty special to get alex ferguson to talk to the bbc.

Phuck
Joe was 9-1 last night pre-voting.
Missed chance for me, i was thinking about having a pop on him seeing as Lewis is an ITV boy therefore less likely to be plugged by the BBC.

Did you watch Clarkson instead?
i love their "challenge" sliding scale of achievement. For example....
I'm Jeremy Clarkson. My challenge this evening is to drink 10 pints. Here we go, this is a toughie but I'm Jeremy Clarkson and this is what I do. 10 pints, shit or bust.
Oh no, somebody spilt sopme of my first pint. Bugger. That's unlucky but I'll persevere anyway. Here's Richard Hammond to talk over and sound all dramatic about it. Oh no, it's a disaster, they've run out of pint glasses. Oh fate, why must thou conspire against me.
Then calamity struck. They called last orders!!! What a blow. Undaunted, I pushed on. I battled through, dubbed a bit of dramatic music and then, against all the odds, I finished my pint!
*play rule brittania*
As you can see ladies and gentleman, the challenge was a resounding success and I've got a 14 inch cock.

I did, it was mildly entertaining.
I just can't bare the SPOTY, I don't see the point at all, it always seems so forced and awkward, and all the sports "stars" just seem a bit embarrassed.

Can someone clear up EXACTLY how old Bobby Robson is please - we had estimates in the pub last night of between 65 and 104.
Whoever told Hatton and Calzaghe to stand beside Lennox Lewis clearly had 1) a sense of humour and 2) no sense of personal danger as they looked like stunted oompa-loompa's.

Calamari fought Lennox Lewis in Oceans 11, he must have been stood on a box or something because they looked roughly the same size in that.

Oi Daley, are you saying that completing a 24 hour endurance race is as easy as drinking 10 pints? Because I'd suggest that it was quite considerably harder. And I'm rubbish at drinking.

No
what I'm saying is that they started off by targetting a top 10 finish but ended up making everything appear dramatic and claiming a wonderful achievement because they managed to finish above a milk float when they had an ex-formula 1 driver as part of their team.
sliding scale. When your initial challenge is beyond you, simply change the rules so the challenge is attainable. They do it very well on that show.

74 apparently. He looked very frail on the telly last night though. MissusGrove has a thing for slightly dodderry old men and was cooing away at the telly when he was escorted back to his seat last night. There's always the one when he was managing Newcastle that makes me laugh Reporter: "So Shola, do you have a nickname at the club?" Ameobi: "Not really no." Reporter: "What do the lads call you then?" Ameobi: "Shola." Reporter: "What does Bobby Robson call you then?" Ameobi: "Carl Cort."

Well it was a pretty remarkable achievement just to finish. Plus they did beat their closest competitor.
A lot of what they do with the challenges is to show how hard some things actually are so they start off with the attitude that it'll be easy, then discover just how challenging it is.
It's definitely fair to say that most of the work is done by people who know what they're doing though. I doubt Clarkson could weld two bits of metal together safely, let alone build a racing car. But then he's a presenter, not an engineer.

I'm not even doubting the difficultness of what they try to achieve, it's purely the "we suceeded even though we failed" attitude that happens every show.
Thier nearest competitors were probably 79 laps behind them. They take dramatic licence a bit too far is kinda what I'm trying to say. If they were football managers they'd win every week with a 97th minute over head kick by the keeper.

How would you suggest they did it then? Just say "we drove a car for a bit and finished somewhere near the back, roughly where you'd expect a bunch of novices to end up" and then have done with it?

and without that freakish speech impediment, that's like an analogy. spoken. by a moron. with emphasis. in the wrong. place.
In fact they should stick to reviewing mondeos and not make us suffer the worlds ugliest sycophantic groupies lapping at his old spice infused studio sweat.

Old Bobby Robson made me tear up a bit too as he was a bit emotional and looking so old so suddenly. Probably hormonal

This bloke went to a Bobby Robson book signing. He got there late, just as Bobby was packing up, but the old gent signed his book anyway. The bloke asked, "Had many people at the signing Bobby?". Bobby said "ooo, hundreds son, hundreds", and gave him his signed book.
The bloke looked at the book when he got home. It was signed "All the best. Bobby Hundreds".
