Stephen McPhee.
Forward or midfielder? Is he the final piece in our promotion jigsaw?

Technically a forward although we have some good ones of those already Albeit that one of them belongs to Man yoo and one of them is older than time itself We therefore played him on the right wing a lot of the time That said, he's great at link up play, closing down, and putting himself about, but has had a cows backside and banjo scenario going on for some time now, so if I was Browny I'd have done the same Oh and one more thing....... of the two and half years he's been with us he's been injured for about two of them Happy New Year Admittedly the above doesn't make for good reading but he is actually a good player

He's been with us ages yet the best I've seen him was for Vale 4 years ago. Needs shooting practice.

to be fair to the lad his attitude* and committment have been fantastic and I therefore I would wish him all the best should he leave.
*apart from taking penalties. do not let him take penalties. ever.

We (Vale) perseverd with him after a disappointing first full season where he played mostly wide right. His finishing was poor but the following season he was a revelation playing up front with Steve Brooker. Scored 20 odd goals and had genuine pace. For his height he was the best header of the ball at the club and had lots of spring and timing.
At the end of that season his agent (since proved to be a conniving bastard on more than one occasion) persuaded him to go to Portugal on a free (to avoid a tribunal and potential fee). Hull then purchased him for about half a million I think and after an injury it was discovered he had some sort of potentially career ending knee defect which kept him out for more than a season. I suppose it depends on how badly the injury affected his long term fitness.
Wewould have him back like a shot but then again we don't have two ha'pennies to rub together and no player worth his salt would want to join us in our current predicament.
