Coming from a part of the country that didn't really give a toss for either rugby code, I grew up watching both games.
However, with Sky creaming off most of RL over the last 20 years or so I've not seen much League. Living in union heartlands has also affected that.
On Saturday I made the effort to watch a league game for the first time in years and it was well worth it. A great game, spoiled slightly by the ref.
However, it still frustrates me that it often comes down to who is bigger and stronger. Union also has this fault to a certain degree, but with them having more players on the pitch it seems to make less of an impact (unless there is a stupid mismatch like Jonah Lomu).

I don't necessarily agree. Fitness is a big factor and the most exciting players to watch are full backs - the likes of Billy Slater and Sam Tomkins. Warrington were taken apart in the play off semi finals by Rob Burrow who is 5ft 5. Rugby Union is the one where big twats try to push the ball far enough up the pitch for somebody to kick penalties.
The one thing I can't get my head around is the franchise system and the Grand Final / play offs thing meaning that the League leaders aren't seen as the champions but I know why they do it.

That young Tomkins lad has got a big future. Easily the most exciting player on the pitch on Saturday. However, having seen that his big brother is off to union I fear a bit for league.
The next to last Aussie try on Saturday was what I was referring to. A big bloke that just barged over the English to the try line.
Tackling is broadly better in RL than union, so speed can be kept under wraps, but nothing stops brute strength 5 yards out.

The thing with the big lumps in RL is that they are used sparingly, so the likes of Eorl Crabtree and David Solomona are used at certain stages of the game. They're certainly not the fulcrum of the team like they are in Union.

I used to watch rugby league quite often and for my sins I used to work at central park. My best times were in the winter, mug of bovril and on the odd occasion my dad gave me a hot water bottle to stick under my coat (as I was a kiddie then). Carried on watching it as I got older but then it became Super League and that spoiled it in my opinion, well that and Maurice Lindsay. Personally I think the play offs are a joke, how a team that finishes top aren't champions is beyond me.
