Our relegation rivals getting the best out of their transfer deadline signings, even the ones with lower budgets than us and no 8m banked. We need action sooner rather than later otherwise we are on our way down. The lack of ambition is a shock.

Dean must love the fact not only does he get to sit in the directors box each game, he also gets 8m in his bank... Easy money

I think it's time for an official statement from DH, NC or this mysterious Wilson figure.
Are they happy with the squad - did they try to bring someone in and it failed - are we at maximum in terms of wages and cant afford to strengthen - did we get offers and refused to sell (thinking Hunt for example).
Keeping fans in the loop is always a good idea - especially in a period like this.

Worryingly (to me at least) DH said (to paraphrase) "the players have proven they are good enough..." when asked about incoming signings.
It's clear to me that they have proved they are NOT good enough.
And that we were (are) in desperate need of new signings.
We have players that are simply not up to the job at this level.
I'd even go as far to say that only Vaughan, Hunt and Clayton would get into an even midtable Championship team.
The rest of them are sub standard, unfortunately.
Combine this with a seeming lack of interest, enthusiasm and effort and you get a team with one win in thirteen.
We need a new manager in ASAP to shake some life into them otherwise we'll be back in League One without so much as a whimper.

We need action sooner rather than later otherwise we are on our way down. The lack of ambition is a shock. Graysons got alot to do with this, signing 2 strikers beckford n vaughan and they have got a grand total of : vaughan 22 goals in 111 appearances for town and previous clubs. beckford 20 goals in 90 appearances for town and previous clubs. Thats why we are struggling up front signing these 2 stikers on big wages and not getting a good return. Simon church was another waste of wages been paid out. Jason scotland at barnsley has got 2 in 2 now, now thats value same with lita at the massive. Who ever comes in as next manager if they dont address the striker situation and fast we are Doomed FACT. Got my tin hat at the ready. :boxing:

I find it astonishing that the board are now coming under scrutiny for a lack of investment.......and before anyone starts i am not stuck halfway up mr hoyle's arris, but lets consider the facts...... 1. The aim was to stop up .....simple as. We are well on course to achieve that and at present we are bang on where i expected us to be.....good enough to stay up but not much better. 2. The rhodes deal was unbelievable - 8m for an unproven league 1 striker who many wanted out at the start of the previous season was a good deal. We replaced him with players on big money but who had infinitely better track records of performance in vaughan and beckford. Sadly their injury records are poor......but thats graysons fault for bringing them in together with only novak and lee as back up. How has the owner not backed his manager, when you add norwood, lynch, dixon, clayton, gerrard to the list?! 3. Grayson had to go.... The players werent playing for him, but this is a key appointment now. We have to get a manager in for the longer term who can develop our own talent, make the most of what he has and then show real acumen in the transfer market at a realistic level. 4. How do you bring players in at a difficult time with no manager?! They wont want to come and if they do, theres no guarantee a new manager would want them. Its not ideal to sack a manager as dean did, and maybe the timing could have been better, but we need a bit of patience now - this squad has enough to maintain championship status and then in the summer we can re-evaluate matters, and move onwards and upwards.
Time for a bit of calm, let a managerial decision be made and then lets get the 15 or so points needed to guarantee safety and have a long holiday away from it!!!!

the club have stated that in terms of the wage budget, we are at max. I guess it would help if we terminate Beckfords loan but we cant so have to live with it but after todays result, the urgency to get in the right manager has gone up a notch.
Lillis got 2 very good performances from the team, then we collapsed at the hands of a team that were only just above us.
I do hope whoever comes in is allowed to dip into the loan market.
Just makes the Palace win even more important now following today

Have to say other teams around us made smart moves Can you imagine the reaction on here had we signed Scotland who was released from a relegation rival or Lita on loan who was berated on another thread? Would have been meltdown. Now they have done OK everyone's claiming it a victory for our rivals. Live from my living room.

The loan window re-opens on Thursday so we may yet add to the squad. No need to panic on that front just yet.

E4 what's your point ? We might not get 15 points we might go down... The way other teams are picking up points 15 might not be enough ... But having seen us on Wednesday I think we will be ok... If we go down then mistakes will have been made... But when hoyle took over from ken we looked more likely to get into leaguE 2 than the championship... Time and again he has put his money in his pocket ..and what do town fans do ? Moan that, for example he is fleecing the club by not spending the 8m we got for Rhodes.. ..god give me strength ... Even if we go down dean hoyle should be given the freedom of the town.... A modern day hero and legend .... What do people want ? Ken back ? Shady Malaysian wheeler dealers ? Ffs we are huddersfield town... We have no divine right to anything..not on 12k home gates.. If you had told me when dean took over that in feb 2013 we would be in bottom half of championship, in the hat for 5th round of FA cup, had seen players of the quality of Rhodes and pilks, and spent millions sorting out the training facilities and youth structures, thus enhancing the chances of a more prosperous long term future I'd have bitten your hand off ..... So in short, stop whining

The problem we have is the lack of a natural goalscorer, now we have Beckford, I'm more than willing to say he is a natural goalscorer but at the minute he's crocked. Novak went off with what looked like a injury today as well, leaving us with Lee and Vaughan in the striking department. There are only 2 clubs scored less goals than us and they are both below us,well they had scored less than us and were below us before today,I've not checked they may have surpassed us after todays games. So, from this I can probably safely surmise that we need a bloody proven goalscorer.
