Someone I work with knows Chris Brandons wife. SHe told me he was on "about" 4 grand a week at Town.
Surely thats not right?
She said he has been in talks with Sadford for a few weeks, and he will take a pay cut for 'the love of the game!'

I just spat out my porridge!
Hopefully it was performance related pay and he only got paid that if he did something productive like score or create an assist. This would have meant we'd have had to rarely pay anything ;D

If it was performance related Brandon would have been better off signing on!! ;D Seriously though, I can't see Brandon being on any more than £1200 p/w (still a grand too much in my opinion)

I can never understand the fascination with what the players earn. If they are on £40, £400, £4k or £40k per week that's there business.

The fascination is how much it costs the clubs. I would rather see players be paid less and more going on transfer fees to the clubs, not the agents.
Everyone knows what the cost of living is, if the players are being paid to compensate their "celebrity" status rather than what they can provide in talent for the club, then I am very interested in how much they are paid. It represents the amount of trust I have in the club to run a business that is stable and entertaining on match day.
There isn't a shortage of footballers, yet the prices are really high.
Chris.

To a degree thats true, but players wages have an impact on season ticket prices, and I would guess that there would be resentment felt from fans to mercenarys on high wages - who don't put the effort in,rather than someone like Boothy who does

Youre kidding??! it wouldnt bother you if cadermatri was on 40k a week at town?!!?!? it comes down to VFM - Value for money in my own humble opinion. If the club can afford it and the player gives/performs accordingly then best of luck to a well paid player - i.e Rio Ferdinand....

I f Chris B randon is on 4 k a week he should 3k to charity...as he got that money from a charity in the first place......the club................................... It is however disgusting how much clubs are prepared to pay in wages let alone transfer fees.....It was reported that Real Madrid would shell out 150 million and 7.6 in wages to land Cristiano Ronaldo, absolute lunacy.......boom and bust will hit football hard in the future and bring football back to reality

It's TV that gives all this money to the clubs. We (Generally) watch it on telly, buy merchandise etc. Look at what baseball basketball players get in the States, that again is down to tv etc. The more people watch & buy the more money the brand will be. I think there are some average players getting superstar wages, look at what Leeds were paying Seth Johnson!!! The worst thing is how some players act both on/off the field, no respect for anything or anyone. They think just cos they can afford most things they can act how they want

However we all got to remeber that the players are like anyone else in a job they want the best deal for them so this is goona be a mix of playing footie an high wages and so people will take wages cuts to be able to play but they all have familes and they aint gonna say no to being paid more for the job they do.

agree with what sum1 said above - I don't miss Brandon, I think it was right to let him go....BUT - he did one thing consistently that alot of our players have failed to do in recent times.....
HE GAVE 100%.
Albeit far too often with too little end product, he always worked hard in matches and showed some passion. I'd certainly give him a round of applause if he came back to the Mac with another club....even if it was Bradford.
