would have randomly chosen better players than we have signed in the last 5 years. I make it over 70 signed in this period and none will ever play in the Prem. Its comical how bad we are at it....fee, no fee, youngster breaking through? All seem to fizzle out after a few first team games. We have sold about 7 players for decent fees to bigger clubs in 30 years....beyond feeble when many lower league teams like Crewe find 3 a season. We need better scouts/scouting and a return to taking players on loan or trial before signing them. Agents and hangers-on big players up, edited videos make them look like Messi, the media over-hypes unproven youth. The squad now is no better than in Clarks first year. Progress my arse (Canalside looks good though). When the performances picked up i stupidly assumed results would. Well, the results got worse and now the performances have dropped off again. Go back to basics Robins, stop being negative in selection, encourage central midfield to run with it and go to a simple 4-4-2 where everyone knows their role and shape is more easily kept. Another wasted year with no return and poor entertainment for the faithful.

Absolutely true Otium, worryingly we seem to have a knack of turning half decent players we sign into carbon copies of one's we've let go. We coach any desire they have out of them. Poor Lolley he's next.

Its a shame when Otium posts comments like those, because he obviously has good common sense and has followed Town for as long as I have (I sumise, cos he knows all the old fans I do), and has Town at heart. I would suggest he stops 'stupidly assuming', and don't write off a consolidating season off as a 'wasted year'. Come on Oti......head up pal....head up!

It's easy to throw Crewe up as an example to make a point like this. However, where are Crewe now and where have they been for the last fifteen years?
Away from Crewe, where are all these clubs who have been around us who are demonstrating much more success in unearthing gems?
Yep, Southampton- not exactly in the same bracket as us. Posh- maybe, but again, where are they now?
It's clear that pretty much everyone has a large turnover of players and are never quite happy with what they have. We aren't unique.

That was before i realised they had all been castrated. Lynch and Vaughn are out and are our best two players. Hammill is also a big loss....just stopped playing. The margins are narrow, with effort, good tactics and a fair wind we could have made it.....we could just have easily been relegated. I think we have 21 wins in the last 70 league matches, pretty abysmal considering the investment and hype

"It is one of the essential features of such incompetence that the person so afflicted is incapable of knowing that he is incompetent. To have such knowledge would already be to remedy a good portion of the offense." Miller
Pretty much sums up those who lack insight into their limited intellectual abilities.

Actually tend to agree with Oti on this somewhat. When a team signs as many new players as we have so far this season, then I expect to see some real improvement, and I don't just mean in playing style, though that has disappeared too the last goodness knows how many games. (Well at home anyway, maybe I'll give us Brum at least away) At this rate I can't see us getting anymore points than last season, and that's the sort of improvement I want to see not pretty pretty football in our own half. Sure we may finish higher in the table, but it isn't improvement by just having crapper teams below us, probably worse if we've only got the same points or less if they're so crap. We turn good players into average and average players into poor ones, at least until they sign for someone else by the looks of it For gawds sake Hammil bring back the silly stepovers and beat a few guys, preferably to get in the box and score goals like we've seen far too rarely before. Anyway could go on about them all really, but will leave it at thet. Clearly to me, Robins and the coaching staff are getting something wrong somewhere, and the last two home games, well 2nd half Forest at least have simply been utter bollocks and I can see why folks won't spend their money to turn up and watch that crap. I'm beginning to wonder myself if I've had enough value for money out of my season ticket yet, especially after a 200 mile round trip for every game.

Get one thing straight in your deluded old head pal, at no point in your life lived, or life to come, are you worthy of being anybody's 'nemesis', let alone mine. I, along with the vast majority of people on here, recognise virtually everything you post, as nothing but contradictory bullshit, and make no mistake my friend, that's exactly what it is.

season of consolidation?
not yet it isn't..
plenty of games left for us to aim for that third spot at the bottom...
after watching yesterdays full and comprehensive "stutter" to a 0-2 home defeat against a very ordinary Wendies, I still think we could manage to be in the shake "down" at the end..
2 wins in the next 8 games still leaves us short and that's our "form"...
Relegation history is full of teams that were "comfortably placed" and "too good to go down"
