Will be interesting to see if Arfield keeps his place and how he does in Prem if Burnley go up. Are we counting Drinkwater as an ex player? could be in prem with Leicester next season.

I am not dramatising anythng Jimbo. The fact is we have been rubbish in the transfer market since i started watching in 1970. A handful of players sold for decent fees to clubs higher up the league in over 40 years? Come on, that has to be the worst record of ANY league club. Charlton, Booth, Rhodes, Peltier, Hunt in recent times (recent....15 years!). A pitiful return. Look at the players we sign on good money, Lee, Donis, Scannell. Donkeys. Remember record signing Tracy austin? A dozen goals in nearly a hundred games as i recall. I have posted on here before that i recommended 5 players to Town in the 90's. They all became internationals. I was Sunday league standard but have a better eye than professional paid scouts. Why do we find it so hard to spot talent and bring it on? When will the situation imrove? Is this new crop going to turn the corner for us? 3 things before signing someone....does he improve the team and is a better player than the one he replaces....is he comfortable on the ball (with both feet)......can he run fast. Its really as simple as that. As a matter of interest Oti, who would YOU have replaced Rhodes with? I will have to be honest , when names come up on here i never know who they are any longer. As a young man i knew all the lower league players. This season i have watched about 20 games on TV (all Prem) but in the last 10 years i doubt i have seen 20 TV games. If you only watch Town its hard to see talent! Rhodes was good business, with the money we would have gone looking around the smaller European leagues. They always match us for desire, abilty and more than equal our personal discipline. Leagues such as those in Hungary, Sweden or Slovenia could easily supply any need at lower cost/risk. Players would also want to come. All i know is i would have had a replacement long before he was sold, we dallied too much.

Worst record of any league club - bother to do some research and back that up with facts and it might be worth listening to - otherwise it's just the ramblings of a man trying to make himself heard by shouting louder than the next man. 5 players that became internationals - I'm quite sure others had spotted these young guys who went on to play for their country? Or are you seriously trying to tell us that you happened across five rough diamonds while watching sunday league football who all amazingly became internationals without anyone else spotting them? When you recommend them to town maybe they just laughed at you as they knew there was no chance they were ever coming to Town as they had already been spotted by (insert name of any club bigger than town and in the then division 1). Your arguments and discussion points are weak. Walter Mitty springs to mind. As posted previously.....Freddie Ljungbergs name was the first. He was 16. I saw him break into the first team. Towns scout told me face-to-face he had seen him twice at La Manga and he was "too small, too weak". Wenger paid £1 million a year later. The chairman of Halmstad (Kent Karlsson?) told me he was available for £100k Jesper Mattsons trial at Town was consequence of me passing hs name to Jacko. Jacko wanted him and flew to Sweden (in Ruberys private jet) to meet us before taking him on trial. He went to Forest two weeks later for £250k Suppose i just made that up as i am a Walter Mitty.

would have randomly chosen better players than we have signed in the last 5 years. I make it over 70 signed in this period and none will ever play in the Prem. Its comical how bad we are at it....fee, no fee, youngster breaking through? All seem to fizzle out after a few first team games. We have sold about 7 players for decent fees to bigger clubs in 30 years....beyond feeble when many lower league teams like Crewe find 3 a season. We need better scouts/scouting and a return to taking players on loan or trial before signing them. Agents and hangers-on big players up, edited videos make them look like Messi, the media over-hypes unproven youth. The squad now is no better than in Clarks first year. Progress my arse (Canalside looks good though). When the performances picked up i stupidly assumed results would. Well, the results got worse and now the performances have dropped off again. Go back to basics Robins, stop being negative in selection, encourage central midfield to run with it and go to a simple 4-4-2 where everyone knows their role and shape is more easily kept. Another wasted year with no return and poor entertainment for the faithful. I thought Otium was a stats man. In my Monday morning paper it said Town were 3rd behind Derby and Notts Forest in the "Most Shots" table. Perhaps we need to be more negative?
