Now the banners and flags have been designed its about time the club came up with a new club anthem/ song which everybody knew the words to and could sing along adding atmosphere to the ground. There are many a catchy tune where the words could be altered accordingly and surely only a matter of time before someone comes up with yet another great choice.

Smile a While is the club song, and it's a perfectly good football song.
Making up a club song just seems manufactured, no history or reasoning behind it.

Smile a While all day long for me.
I didn't realise until I got involved with the NSL that the song originates from a tune called "till we meet again", and was written about a soldier leaving his sweetheart behind to go and fight in the first world war.
Adds a bit of poignancy to it knowing that for me.
Smile the while you kiss me sad adieu, When the clouds roll by I'll come to you, Then the skies will see more blue, Down in lovers lane my dearie, Wedding bells will ring so merrily, Every tear will be a memory, So wait and pray each night for me, Till we meet again.

Great to hear this one again. Sadly it didn't trouble The Charts if I recall.

Thought they'd have something a bit better than a VW transporter as a tour bus since they are so massive

There are many a catchy tune where the words could be altered accordingly and surely only a matter of time before someone comes up with yet another great choice. I have to agree and yes Smile Awhile does have its place but does it really get the place bouncing in a short period of time? does it have in immediate impact after just a few lines? Smile Awhile has a long history with the club and certainly should not be abandoned but I do feel that there is something that can be sung, quickly, is catchy (not in the BGT or Pop Idol sort of catchy). I know Boothy has said that there is sometimes something that can give a lift to the team and has an immediate impact. I think of other clubs that have anthems that are short and tied in with recognisable themes/tunes such as SWFC Hi Ho Sheffield Wednesday you cannot help but think how that is used before a game and is booming out when it comes to the part saying Hi Ho Sheff Wednesday, Blaydon Races, I'm forever blowing bubbles, Delilah. This is but just a few examples and whilst, as already mentioned Smile Awhile has its place at the club, does it have the same impact as what is used at other clubs. As much as we all like/dislike that team from a small place just outside Leeds aka Beeston United you cannot help sometimes but think of Marching on in Leather!!!! Personally I like Cant Help falling in Love

Our anthem is smile awhile. Rather than 'making' a new one, just learn the words to our anthem, its not a complicated song.

In 69/70 when we got promoted to Division 1 ( yes the very top league Liverpool away first game after bating Blackpool and Southampton in first two games we were top of the league) my mind drifts when I try to remember the game at Liverpool I think we shared a 4 goal thriller.
Anyway that year the entire ground new the words to a chart hit kissing Goodbye it occasionally gets an airing at away games , but here is my plan simple words easy to sing Town Announcer ( comedian on the pitch) starts at one side of ground and goes round each section then all ground joins in together so here goes for the song.
Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na hey hey Huddersfield Town Then repeat 3 times
we do this at the start of the game every time we score and at the start of the second half
John Smiths stand starts first 3 times
North Stand next 3 times
Direct Golf 3 times
Then all together Marching on Together completely drowned out.
IT WILL WORK GIVE IT A TRY

Think 'those were the days my friend' was the first town song I learnt. I love it and think we should start singing that, especially now we have banners and flags about those days!

"Smile Awhile", for me. Something bouncy would be good however.

We do sing 'Those were the days' and always have as far as I can remember but 'Smile Awhile' is our anthem, it's not hard to learn and sounds brilliant when numbers get involved . . .
There's a team that is dear to it's followers . . .

Smile a while was good until those tools covered it Those "tools" put their considerable time and effort into doing something that; 1) Was for a good charitable cause, 2) Promoted the club we all love 3) Showed their passion for the club Now it's all well and good being a keyboard warrior or even a smart arse and yes, everybody has their own tastes and should be able to voice their own opinion, but that statement, my fellow Town fan, is just plain disrespectful.

Why don't we adapt the one that crystal palace and others do where they are all jumping about and going mental

Because its very rare we have anything to go mental about but that could happen if Robins made a signing before Christmas.

What is everyones obsession with Crystal Palace ? Do something unique. Two verses or more of Those Were The Days, sing the same lines if you have to, great song but it's over before it can really get going.

Ok, tools was harsh. They obviously worked hard on it however my opinion still stands. On the three points mentioned though: 1) Was for a good charitable cause: Yes! It was - didn't do their profile any harm either did it 2) Promoted the club we all love: Do you really think many people heard about this outside of Huddersfield/West Yorkshire/non town fans 3) Showed their passion for the club: I take it you are in the Robins out camp then, due to his lack of 'passion'
