Judging by his press conference we can expect some ins and outs in the loan window!

Very happy with this appointment, even more so after reading up a bit on Powell on the piece on the website. Also, and i'm unsure if this is racist or positive discrimination or what, but I am also proud that we have a black manager at a time when managers who are anything other than white are few and far between in this country. It's not racist nor positive discrimination so rest easy

What the hell is Oggy going to do with that bog brush It's not a good look is it, perhaps he should wear a baseball cap...oh you mean the mic! Harsh. I am a bald git so maybe this is tinged with envy.

Came across really well in his interview, wasn't my first choice - but I'm now very happy it was him that was picked.

Hope he is given time and all this season , we have the basis of a good side just the defence which is poor. We still lack strike options.
Liked his interview on SSSN.
Good luck to him.

Judging by his press conference we can expect some ins and outs in the loan window! Definitely sounded to be the case. His first interview/contact with Town was clearly fairly shortly after Robins left, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's spent much of the intervening 2-3 weeks getting as familiar as he can be with Town's recent games and the current squad, so he probably already has a fair idea of what he wants to do, both in and out.

Hi Fellas. Charlton fan here who I hope you don’t mind adding my own thoughts about Chris Powell. I have been an occasional visitor and poster on this forum as I have got a bit of a soft spot for you guys, mainly because my wife is a Hudders fan. Personally, I think Powell will be an excellent appointment for you. There were times (particularly towards the end) in his tenure at Charlton that the style of football was not particularly pleasing on the eye but I think the main mitigation for this was the fact he was massively hamstrung by the lack of investment within the club meaning that he was really working with at least one hand tied behind his back. I see us as similar sized clubs but you are in infinitely better shape that we were in the latter stages of his time as our manager. On a very limited budget he was generally pretty shrewd in the transfer/loan market . The team of ours that came 9th in 2012-13 was limited in ability to say the least but Powell fostered an excellent team spirit that saw us massively overachieve and it was evident that he has first class man management skills and this really is his main attribute. We were generally very organised defensively and our away record was excellent (a lot of 1-0 wins!). At times it would have been nice for us to be a bit more expansive but I would again link that back to the limitations that he had to face with the personnel in the squad. Having seen you guys a couple of weeks ago, I think you have more going forward that we had at that time so it may not be such an issue for you. As many people have said, you will find few people more respected and well liked in game than Chris Powell and as a result I can see many people wishing you well under his leadership. Admittedly this will not win you matches but it can be reassuring all the same. Enough of my ramblings other than to wish you all the best for the rest of the season (28th Feb excepted of course!). Cheers Tom Nice post Tric. Exactly the point I made on another thread- a good organised solid approach with the attacking players in our squad should work nicely. Your lot look strong this year!

Can't say I'm pissing my pants with excitement but I am pleased with this appointment. Think he'll do a good job, he has some decent players to work with but no doubt he'll want to bring one or two of his own in but on the whole I'm looking forward to having him in charge.

Gut feeling is that Mr Powell might just be the manager we and Mr Hoyle has been waiting for. All the hard work of the last 6 years might come to some fruition under his leadership - here's hoping. He's got some experience, is still ambitious, something to prove and looks to be very happy to be given the chance. Welcome and good luck Chris... UTT You said that about robins. seriously though very happy with this

I went to Charlton last season and got chatting to a few locals who had nothing but praise for him. I think most fans will be happy with the appointment and the fans need to get behind the team and manager now, i mean at the end of the day, getting a big name manager in doesn't guarantee you anything.
Maybe, just maybe the promised land might not be that far away!!.
Up The Town and good luck Chris Powell.

Chris Powell is a very well liked and respected man in football. That will do Huddersfield Town no harm at all.

Where were they in the league when they sacked him exactly ? Bottom-ish but didn't they have about 5 games in hand due to good cup run and a bab pitch?? Of course. Very unlucky

He certainly looks the part which is always a good start. Better than a lot of managers and ex players who wander around looking like a bags of shite tied in the middle.

Atleast he has a personality. Something we've lacked over the last year or so.
