After seeing my team capitulate on Saturday, no midweek game to prepare, today i would have the boys a nice surprise in store as they rolled into the Training ground in their top of the range cars.
You might have had time to get over such a lethargic performance, but the supporters who paid a min of £36 to endure that dross, turned up at their places of work, this morning and will be the butt of jokes for months ahead.
Losing isn't the problem, were Huddersfield Town and used to it, its a pro footballers biggest insult, a total lack of desire and effort. You let everybody down.
Get your trainers out and leave your boots and Football's in The Store room. I Would run their balls off Monday to Wednesday, Zero enjoyment for a footballer. Just to reset their on board computers for Satdy's vital 6 pointer v Millwall.
It might sound a tad Draconian, but these passionless, toothless, overpaid, under achieving prima donnas need a reality check, before heading back to their 4 bedroom detached abode and putting their feet up, ready for a grueling afternoons sky sports news on a 60 inch 3d smart TV, funded in some way by us fuckin idiots.

Understand the emotion but I'd rather have them practicing basic defending and pass and move drills, working on shooting, first touch etc.

But it really has come to that stage. Basic defending, as in Lynch. If in doubt, put it out, not try to swing it back down the touchline.

Aye, basic defending has been a problem for a while. Stuff you should learn as a kid, marking, tracking runners etc..

I'm with Colt, if they can't pass a football now there's no hope for them.
They need a wake up call, an incentive to make sure they know what will happen everytime they fail to stand up and be counted.
A few of them were in the Head of Steam yesterday, fair enough they're entitled to go out for a pint on a Sunday afternoon but going in a Huddersfield pub the day after an embarrassing derby defeat might be asking for trouble with some of our less forgiving fans.

As I feel this morning, I think a nice trip on the Hull to Calais ferry is in order for them, accompanied by kicking them out midway and telling them to ******* swim home.

Why be so hard on the poor loves? We all know they have it hard every day. They have to run through harsh quantities of grass every day for an hour, being careful not to stand on those life threatening traffic cones, or markers on the grass. Heaven help them if they actually kick a ball as their feet could explode.

Huddersfield boss Chris Powell: "There is no question of them lacking heart. That will never happen with one of my sides".
Speechless.

If thats true its a disgrace!!!! Thats the most effortless performance I've ever seen from town!! They should have been in the whole day for some basic football lessons!! I'm sure if they turned up, played their hearts out but got beat we could take it, but turning up totally not bothered for a derby game is beyond a joke!!! If we put as much effort into our jobs this week we all know what the end result will be. Some of these players need a big wake up call, how does it not hurt their professional pride at least!? Maybe they have none

People slated Peter Clarke endlessly but we miss his presence in the squad. Players out drinking in town yesterday says a lot. You'd have a drink at home if you were that in need. Personally think alcohol should be banned for footballers- your carreer is dependent on your physical condition & alcodol is extremely harmful to it.
The players that drank yesterday will not be able to give 100% to training today. That is a fact.
So after a shambolic performance we have already started the next week with less than 100%. Sadly, it makes me think those relegation doom merchants among us may well be right.

Sadly, it makes me think those relegation doom merchants among us may well be right. I remember reading an opinion piece on the BBC years ago about the drinking culture of footballers. It was when Arsenel were doing very well and it was one of those annual award (back slapping) dinners they have. The comment was that Henry and Viera were busy trimming the fat off their steaks and drinking mineral water whereas a group of the English lads were downing pints and shots, barely able to talk. You just have to compare say Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs. Rooney is already looking knackered and if the rumours of him drinking and smoking are true that makes sense. When you see Giggs even now he is someone who has taken care of himself and the fact he was as effective in the Premier League for as long as he was just tells you everything you need to know. These lads are daft and dont look after themselves properly, just living the way they would if they werent footballers, except not on the dole! A good few years back a friend of mind said she saw a few of our first team drinking and smoking in a bar in Leeds one afternoon. They probably had finished training for the day but the fact they chose to go and do that when they are meant to be professional sportsmen just beggars belief

I think Lynch was trying to get a throw in off the Leeds players legs. No excuse for that or for nobody tracking back to cover Austin to whom the ball deflected or for Smithies not to remain stood up to easily knock the ball over the bar.

Not sure about the Clarke bit there were plenty of gutless performances with him in the team never mind just the squad. Agree about the alcohol though to some extent. It is going to affect them in training, the only excuse in my opinion would be if it was part of some team bonding and the whole squad was there (not somewhere we'd all know about it either!) and it could bring some togetherness and team spirit to the place because at the moment players (and fans) seem to splitting off all over and not pulling together. Maybe we all just need a massive piss up

The contents of this thread prove what a tough job the NSL have in trying to ignite an atmosphere at the stadium! The pampered ones rarely produce anything worthy of creating a buzz around the place and its just oh so predictably dull, uninspiring and plain tedious!! I have no problems with the sun pm beers........they played like theyd had half a dozen sat anyway and its up to them to be fair. What they cant ask for though is patience and backing when they the white flag/commit basic schoolboy errors and then go out drinking! Marcus Stewart was a prolific "out on the town" merchant when he was here........but he delivered most saturdays so nobody batted an eyelid! This bloody lot dont and therein lies the problem.......big salaries and easy street for what are just above average professional footballers = lazy and excuse laden guff!

There is most definitely a lack of togetherness in our squad Slyman. This is the aspect that allows teams of mediocre players to overachieve and we patently do not have it. Worryingly it's this that could send us down. How do yo I bring in togetherness? You can't buy it.
Confidence obviously is key but we don't really look like winnng a game so even starting the momentum is a major challenge.
The squad needs a lift with fresh faces/voices in the dressing room, no doubt about that. Too many of the currentl lot have been shit for ages and still get paid and picked each week.

Wonder if those saying the players can't enjoy a drink and forget about Saturday do the same after a shit day/week at work.
Sometimes a drink with friends is the perfect tonic.

It's a bit sad that we are even complaining what they do on a day off.
God we lose to L666s and anyone would think we were automatically relegated. I thought the ranting and whinging may have been finished at the weekend.
Name and shame them? Are you kidding me? ..... why so you have give them wholehearted support on saturday or just another reason to be on their backs from minute 1.
Would any of us want our bosses to know what we do on our day's off. Or to be followed round by some do gooder ... you can't do this and you can't do that, you still may feel the effects of that drink tomorrow morning at work.
This place is getting more bizarre by the minute.
First the players are accused of not being in touch with reality and then by doing something normal they get castigated for not being at home doing yoga or some such mind and body therapy bollocks!
They are young lads in the 20's mostly and what did the majority of us do in our 20's probably far worse than they did and now we preach to them.

Personally I'm Tee total, but the point is that they're professional athletes, or supposed to be. Cutting out alcohol for the ten years or so of your career is hardly much sacrifice, certainly outside of close season. Track & field athletes do it are paid a pittance in comparison.
Due to the way the game is structured, the players are relied upon to perform but face no consequences when they don't, the same huge remuneration either way....& to think people keep criticising Hoyle- it's no business I'd like to run.
