Can't see them taking such a risk tbh, be bloody brave if they do, Think it could cause big probs as he travelled to other grounds.

Everyone is saying he isn't remorseful, hasn't apologised etc etc - well he's not going to do if as he says, he is not guilty now is he ? Saying sorry would only infer he did it. Miscarriage of justice can and does happen. maybe not say Sorry, but he could of probably helped his cause sen,,( I read this below a bit ago) He could have told a section of Sheffield United’s fans to stop singing his name, as if he were a hero. He could have condemned those outing his victim online, or forcing her into hiding. He could have acted as if he had some responsibility, some duty of care towards the ‘bird’ his mate Clayton McDonald ‘got’ that night before texting this information, which Evans instantly decoded as an invitation to group sex

he does not have a 'cause', he has an appeal. If the people who oppose his re entry to football believe strongly that his conviction means he should not be offered any contracts then similarly should his appeal be successful they will have to support him as being a 'wrongly convicted person' and then encourage clubs to take him on? its a wait and see. I cant quite see the logic in any club taking him whilst the appeal is pending? the clamour for him to be ostracised from the game will be magnified to some tune if his appeal fails..

Or maybe they are just a bit dumb... Didnt the chairman say something like " I was dead shocked by the reaction to all this" .. He must have just got off the plane from mars

like I said, its a bit odd anyone getting overly involved until the appeal??? don't think evans will be paid a bean to kick a ball until then and only if it goes his way. sure that was the Oldham chairman saying that and not that daft bloke with the carrier bags who turns up early to shout abuse on his own at the away coaches?

I see the local police have made statements asking Oldham not to take evans on??? overstepping their brief to some tune there...the local police who ignored mass numbers of offenders for 30 years due to being shit scared of the possible backlash now standing up and being counted? ??

I'm rather reluctant to start posting on this thread again, because every angle regarding Evans has been discussed, but... Luke McCormickSo everything is OK, he's apologised and it's all fine and dandy - he can carry on playing professional football at the club which reneged on his cancelled contract, and earn in a year what most of us wouldn't see in 5. I assume that because of his contrition he is now a role model to kids up and down the land, even if he did kill two small boys. Come on BBC, all I want is that this story is given as much coverage as the never-ending Evans saga.

Like wise didn't want to post on this subject but..
If Oldham get promoted Evans will (likely) be playing at the John Smiths next season.
just a thought

I doubt Oldham will sign him.
There's another petition against him and there's been threats of sponsors removing sponsorship again.

The problems with that is back then they didn't have the power of social media to voice public opinion to the extent that they do now so the coverage is greatly enlarged today. I also wonder if it's worth considering how deliberate the act of rape is in comparison to getting into your car trollied and mowing into another car and causing death because you're in charge of a vehicle whilst intoxicated.

Dont give me that manslaughter plea bargain shite either hes a fucking murderer.

Evans committed the crime with a guilty mind. McCormick on the other hand never intended to hurt anyone despite this being reasonably foreseeable. This and the fact McCormick has shown remorse have mitigated the public reaction imo. FWIW I don't think that either should have the privilege of playing football again. They should be allowed to work but not in such a luxurious and highly publicised vocation.

The intention of my post was to question the objectivity of the mainstream media, the Evans episode being just one example.
The thread seems to have morphed (as threads do on DATM ) in trying to evaluate the greater crime: i.e. some scumbag footballer raping a drug/alcohol-fuelled tart in a hotel room, or some scumbag footballer getting into a car pissed-up and driving into another car and killing 2 kids (unintentionally!).
Nevertheless, I think that instead of "your call", daily on Radio 5 Live (Nicky Campbell - 9.00-10.00) taking calls on the usual inane subjects, the lesser/greater crime argument would be chance for them to extend the envelope a bit!

Football stooping to another low level and surprise surprise it's Oldham again. They should leave him on the football scrap heap and let him get a proper job like the rest of us where he's got to earn his money. Also he's not done his time as he was released early on license. He's shown no remorse to what he did and like has been said before shown nothing to the woman involved who has had to move away from her family under a new identity on more than one occasion. The blokes a disgrace of a man and a convicted rapist in the eyes of the law and no club should give him the privilege of pulling on a shirt at a professional club again.

Wonder how many other parents would go to them length's to help their daughter's partner who are not only an unrepentant convicted rapist but also cheated on their daughter whilst committing the crime too?

What on earth are Oldham doing? This lad has been convicted in a court of law by 6 honourable men and 6 honourable women. He is still serving time by license, there is also an appeal on going. In the mean time, the girl he was convicted of raping has changed her identity for a fifth time. What an absolute mess.
