Anyone got any info on whats likely to happen with him, Are Town looking at doing a perm deal for him or have we ruled it out because of wages etc, I like most would love to see him move here on a perm or season loan, Just what we have needed for so long, Now we have him i would hate to see him go.

I'd imagine something is going on, why would we have sent Stead out on loan

I'd imagine something is going on, why would we have sent Stead out on loan I hope you are right, But i think Stead going out on loan is more to do with Patterson coming back into contention and with him Wells, Bunn, Holt, Ward and JV when fit all likely to be picked before him that is prob why he has gone out on loan. Hope we use some of his wages to put towards Holts but he is in alot from what i have heard.

Can't believe we're not trying to do a deal. I think the latest Vaughan set back was one too far for both dans and board alike.

The little back heel he hit to play in Scanz was superb. Much more than just a big centre forward, the fella's got great awareness of what's around him and he annoys the hell out the opposition, wins aerial balls and holds it up wel and got an eye for goal too, a proper old school centre forward. He does exactly what Alan Lee was supposed to do but never did.
I like him.....
A lot.

exactly the kind of player we've been missing. the guy is absolute class. Still crazy to think we got him in, and it would surely be even crazier to think he'd want to be here for a bit longer.

He's good enough to play at the top end of this division so I'd be surprised if we managed to get him on a permanent deal. However, him being here has shown how much we needed a player of his style and experience, so if he does go back to Wigan or elsewhere, I'd hope we have an alternative lined up immediately.

Love how he talks to, cajoles and sometimes bullies his tea mates all match long. A proper leader from the front.

I thought Rosler was a good manager and was astounded to read how he has managed Holt.
It sounds like he made his mind up early and was never prepared to give him a chance.
I hope Rosler doesn't get the boot at Wigan !!!

I was most impressed by his work rate today. I honestly thought we were getting someone past it, slow and lazy. He looks anything but

Would love him to stay the season on loan...just not sure about offering him a deal....the evidence points to him being worth one but its huddersfield town and you can just see him being awesome on loan then turning shit when he signs for all i know he'll be right for another 2+ seasons at this level but i feel when his mobility goes he'll struggle alan lee has made me very cautious - which is a shame as there's plenty of older players that turn out great business. ideally we keep him for the season then use that time to look for a younger version of him.

It was a joy to watch an experienced wily striker going about his business today. He works hard but doesn't waste energy chasing around like a headless chicken. He works off side expertly, hanging off side distracting defenders before returning at the right time and laying it off or holding it up. His aerial timing and accuracy was masterful- 3 headed attempts on goal- 2 brilliant saves and the opener.
Very unselfish but he is also a goalscorer & I can see him bagging plenty if we can keep him.
Top work Grant.

I could see him doing a really good job this season and next, after that I'm not sure. He does seem pretty fit though, his work rate at Blackburn was superb. He also seems to have a good relationship with Scannell, there were quite a few times they went over and gave each other a high-five after combining together. I've no idea what's gone wrong at Wigan but if we can benefit from it then excellent and if there's any chance we can keep him for the next 18 months we should do it.

Can now understand why he was so rated at Norwich and other clubs, only worry is if we can't keep the beast.

He is playing regularly, which he might not get further up the league. Plus don't underestimate the feeling of being loved by the club, that could help swing it.
We should be at least trying for a season long loan, but I'd try and get him signed up for two years. That could allow us time to find a longer term replacement and still push up the league.

I was hoping he would still be fit & mobile enough to show some of the quality he had at Norwich and so far it looks like he's still a good player. His age will catch up with him eventually so really we should only be looking at 1 or 2 seasons from him. Meanwhile we can look at other options. Wells will get his chance at some point in the season and if he's hungry on the bench and keen to make his mark that's just what you want in a player. He can learn things from experienced pros like Holt while they are here.

" He is a focal point for the team and long may it continue." - www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/29579366A little teaser from Powell on the BBC website report of the Blackpool match. Wonder if a deal is already done?

...but a clever one like Rocket Ron. Funny you should mention Ron. It was proposed at half time on Saturday that Holt is the best at that job that we have seen since Jepson - maybe even Kindon. Seems to make life very uncomfortable for defenders without drawing the wrath of refs. A very important skill for a centre forward. Many a player would have been booked when judo throwing the centre-back like he did.

I guess that Town are only paying part of his wages, and that might encourage Wigan to look at loaning Holt to other clubs who might pay more of his wages...I'm sure Wigan will have received numerous enquiries about Holt since he came to Town and showed what he can do... I can see a lower premier club coming in and taking him for the rest of the season..and maybe paying his wages in full. You couldn't blame Holt if he took that opportunity nor could you blame Wigan for recouping his wages. Town need to act fast I reckon, if they haven't already, because Holt looks like the missing link we have all been shouting for over the past 2 years.. The downside is his age, but tbh Vaughan is younger but his body is knackered..Holt looks a hell of a lot stronger.

Dyche is supposed to be a smart manager so it always surprised me that he picked up a lamppost like Jukevich when players like Holt were available. He'd make an excellent partner for Ings.

And he's quite mobile too - especially at set pieces where he's constantly moving and looking to get free from his markers. Really, really hope we can get him for the rest of the season - his presence up front has made us a totally different proposition going forward. Keeping him would make me reasonably confident of a comfortable mid-table finish - losing him would have me worried again.
