We already have safe standing, and it's not illegal to stand to watch football matches.
This always seems like nothing other than a money making opportunity for whoever is behind those pointless rail seats.

All those who stood at games the last time it was legal are now 25 years or so older. I was blethered after the Fulham game.

There is no such crime as standing at a football match. I'm amazed people still don't seem to understand this. The only legal framework regarding professional football and seats in this country is that stadiums must be all seater, the law doesn't stipulate anything at all that forces folk to use those seats. This is why police don't move in to stop people standing.

For those of us who have antiquated knees, standing is very tedious. Like goodshot, I was knackered after Fulham (and then got very wet!)

We already have safe standing, and it's not illegal to stand to watch football matches. I'm sure Town, and other clubs have been fined, or fines threatened by the FA or FL for letting fans stand up at games. So it may not be illegal, but it is against some rule or other.

The only legal framework regarding professional football and seats in this country is that stadiums must be all seater, the law doesn't stipulate anything at all that forces folk to use those seats. This is why police don't move in to stop people standing. I don't recall actually saying it was illegal. There are 2 types of law, one of which is criminal and the other being civil law. The police can remove any person who breaches the ground regulations. I am sure that even an amoeba would recognise that there is a risk that standing in the current seating can in the right circumstances lead to injury. The introduction of rail seats, (in certain areas) would allow "like minded" fans to stand safely with a reduced risk. Yes it is a cost but would not be introduced across the whole stadium and they have proven to be successful in the Bundesliga, where they do not have legislation surrounding all seater stadia BUT where they have identified the risk and provided a solution to reduce that risk. By the way the start of the thread was not to be seen as an obligation to complete the survey, just a way of drawing attention to it. You are entitled to your opinion but there are many more who are trying to change the mindset of the authorities and provide practical solutions to those that are against safe standing, it just so happens that this solution would have a financial impact on any club.

Fair comment, I personally think it's a ridiculous way of addressing the issue.
Declare an area as standing, change the ground regulations to remove the pain from the stewards and fans having a need to antagonise each other.
It seems pretty simple. Standing in a seated area that has had controlled number access is perfectly safer.
