I've no idea, comments have been deleted now. What was said mate? I'll tell you when I see you Adam. I was a bit vexed at the time but there's some mitigating factors which came to light as the comments and accusations kept coming. Not for discussion here tho

A bit of poor form & shit stirring by Conn for me there. Although by then the story had broke & he was just following it, as is his job. He should of had the balls to tell us how he interpreted his conversation, rather than seeking out "cultural experts" to comment on the headline straps. It seems that their telephone conversation covered Whelen's defence of Mackay (accused of receiving a couple of private jokey "racist" texts) going over the ground that they covered in their earlier interview that caused such furore. Gould took a sensible stance wanting to know the context of the language use & any explanation behind it before fully condemning it. Whelen has since clarified his position (which is largely being ignored & nothing like the accusations now flying around) & apologised for any offense he may have caused. It should be case closed, but not a chance of it.

You think the BBC are right wing?!!! And the EU? And most influential 'personalities'? You're having a laugh surely! the coverage the BBc have given UkIP has always had a strong stench of left wing bias around it.- 'Look , the racists have won another local election, How appalling'. Its very refreshing that enough people are so fed up of mass uncontrolled immigration and being governed by unelected foreign MEPs that they aren't influenced by them. Answers to your first line: Yes, yes, yes. Well , I don't think you understand what right wing actually means then!! To think they are right wing, you must be so far to the left you make ted look like A BNP activist!!

When there used to be a difference. Left - Benn. Right - Thatcher. Now it's a bit grey for me the difference. The majority of senior politicians having all attended the same schools/university certainly doesn't help. Labour, for example, seems like Labour-lite these days. And as for Ed Miliband....! At least someone like Alan Johnson, for example, would seem electable.

Never seem to stand for anything, perhaps why UKIP attracts some votes. I think I am right wing, I hated Thatcher and respected Benn. Whatever your personal leanings are I think they both believed what they were saying. For better, or worse.
Politics now looks more like I'm in a jungle/xfactor/blind date sort of thing with a bit of I'll fiddle my expenses more than you selfishness.
Back to topic though, Whelan is a canny fella and is doing a great job of moving attention away from his manager. A doddery old bloke or canny chap who has a PR team that can help him manipulate public opinion/media away from a manager/team who need to concentrate on football?

The Guardian reported that he said 'chink' & 'Jewish people chase money more than anybody else'. The full transcipt of what he clarified he said & in what context is at the bottom of the following article. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/30139723Where is the Guardian's transcript in full or recording of the original interview? The least they could do is to release it (if they have not done so already) after the shitstorm that their interpretation has caused. If you have an interest in it David Conn was on 5 live sport on ( I think ) Thursday night talking about it... He rang Whelan about one subject and Whelan then started talking about chinks and Jews.. I think Conn was a bit non plussed by it... Old man calls Chinese people chinks isn't the crime of the century ... Not when our secret services are allegedly trying to bury stories about MPs buggering and murdering kids ( allegedly) .. My feeling is that Whelan has been dumb... He will no doubt be charged by the FA and will be asked to go on a course looking at the issues.. I hope the old goat learns something but its doubtful at his age Perhaps others could learn from Whelan. Stereotyping...persecution...where is the real issue? If the Chink autocrats started treating Chinks better we might get somewhere. Let it be, millions dying in hideous wars and we cant shrug at words.

What a load of rubbish! Its bad enough somebody uttering the words their own country is ruined as though its a fait a complis.........but to blame the left wingers is just nonsense given these people dont hold any positions of power. For a country on its knees, there are a hell of alot of folk still wanting to come ere...............doesnt say much for rest of the world if true!!!! Don't you just hate them country screwing commies Rather the elitist than the dirty left. Johnson and Cameron are flawed but their belief system wins out. You always show your colours in a roundabout way Teddy.

Answers to your first line: Yes, yes, yes. It's funny really - European leftists generally think the EU is Trojan Horse by which the British and Americans can impose neoliberalism like forcing through privitisations. The BBC is a bit metropolitan elite, as most of its people are Oxbridge southerners. I don't watch much of its news content as I think it's just shallow. I know slapper hates the leftwing comedians but they're not really left wing as opposed to smug and middle class. Firing bullets into Nick Clegg's corpse is hardly the defining mark of a socialist. The only real bias in British public life is the print media, which is overwhelmingly right wing (though still more establishment and middle class.) Tbh I think the papers are a bit surprised at having to reap the whirlwind with Ukip. They weren't meant to be preventing Tory governments. Gory, the print media is overwhelmingly right-wing? Figures please. I would suspect it 3-1 mainstream sales for the left. Traditionally the Sun and Mirror alone outsell the rest. (OK the Sun has jumped allegiance but is ostensibly left).

It has vacillated. The vast majority of newpapers have supported the left at every election in my lifetime..circulation notwithstanding. Political boundaries have been redrawn twice, to serve Labour, immigration has been encouraged, to serve Labour. Well, UKIP are going to shake them all up despite the immigrant population. Oh, do me a favour fella, ditch the avatar, makes me queasy. ps End FPP, lets have PR...one man, one vote.

I know some kippers who do. The electorate had a referendum on change to the electoral system and emphatically defeated it. We won't vote again for a decade at least. Cui bono, a always - not the parties in power. Ukip are gonna fuck things up, but how? and where? Anyone's guess. Their best long term bet is to copy the Lib Dems and entrench themselves in several areas through good governance. Worth remembering the SDP got 52% in opinion polls in '81. Ukip never register above a quarter of the populace. More loathe them than like them. I'll change the avatar when I next get on a PC mate.

I know in BBC-speak parrot language, UKIP have no policies … on what climate change, a problem that has never existed in the first place (invented by the Thatcher regime even) ?? …. and everyone knows that the Sun doesn't care who runs the country as long as she has big tits. PS Keep the avatar. It's funny.

FPP is so laughable with 5/6 parties. To be honest, a few months without a government might improve the country.

According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations, The Sun, Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph, Daily Express, The Times, and Financial Times, all of which are generally considered to be on the right of British politics, have a joint daily circulation of 5,657,740. The same statistics put the joint daily circulation of traditionally 'left-wing' newspapers such as the Daily Mirror, The Guardian, The Independent, and The I, at 1,565,056.
You could separate The Times and Financial Times into a 'centrist' category, which would shave about 600,000 off the headline figure d the first group, leaving a circulation of roughly 5,000,000.
In my opinion, 'left' and 'right' aren't particularly helpful or useful labels, but in this case they do the job as well as one could hope.

10 month old lad with D&V for me. I'd kill for chronic insomnia. Jeeez, hope that gets better quickly. But, speaking of D&V, The Guardian does have the BBC as a mouthpiece, so that evens it out a bit. Can't understand why they haven't spotted the hijack of the real left wing by the phonies, given that it's been about 20 years now. It happened here, where the phony left are even more sophisticated, but the backlash started two weeks ago, not that the Republicans are a great alternative. Anyone over there follow Agenda 21 ? The dream of the simultaneous decimation of 5+ Billion black, brown and yellow people to save the planet, while simultaneously telling everyone how much you love them. That will explain the climate change fraud and the billions going to denying the emerging world energy with zero, except what escapes Bob's bank account, going to Ebola. …. oh, and China and India telling the West to go f**k themselves, and the Ukraine lie machine.

Glorious, and entirely unintended, irony from Malky at the weekend. Wanting to avoid discussion of the events surrounding his new sponsor, he told journalists that they had "had their pound of flesh". Forehead slap.

lets have PR...one man, one vote. Indeed. For one party to have so much power despite the vote (actual) last time being roughly the same spread between the two major parties is a bit crass. Also while we're at it. Why do we have so many politicians?

The BBC who give UKIP a ludicrously disproportionate amount of time to spout their ignorant bile are left wing. Don't make me laugh. They are establishment and establishment is and always will be right wing. Do you do stand-up for a living....or are you still learning the trade?

I have not bought a paper since the Times in the late 1990's. Of course Murdoch has thrown his hat in with Cameron lately. Whenever i have seen the Sun it appears apolitical compared to the 70's and 80s. I recall reading that when its circulation was 4 million that it had 13 million readers! White van man sharing it around. Here is an interesting study. lordashcroftpolls.com/2012/07/which-party-does-the-sun-support-do-sun-readers-know/
