The problem that Vaughans injury presents us with, other than his absence, is the fact that everybody knows we are now DESPERATE for a striker. Price tags and wages went up 20% on Saturday. it wont get easier thats for sure thought it could be fractured eye socket or cheekbone . not good its two we need now but cant force players to come

doc.. the striker should have been here long ago.
wells on his own week in week out will put him back in his shell..he isn't bad when Vaughan is firing or the team are playing ok, he is ok for a late burst, he isn't a one man striker week in week out especially with little or no support, it will not work.
we played better in the last 20 minutes because we pushed up and went for it.. you don't actually need 2 strikers when you get enough of the team forward for long enough, 4-5-1 works very well when you just don't stick to it..but you may well need to change the striker during the game for all the obvious reasons..
we seem to have a mess of our own making here.

Yes let's trip down the strikers market and pick one up !!
Who and at what cost, very sure Town have tried and are trying, can just imagine the comments on here when we don't sign a world class forward, everyone wants a good striker. Tell me who we should be signing, everyone one here must be signing them for fun on Football Manager.

The club have said they have tried and failed to bring anybody in, for various reasons. To make the assumption that they haven't been trying to resolve the problem is unfair. If Bunn comes back and into form that will help, and then we might just have to throw some youngsters in until we can sort a loan out.

Some people seem to think the club's just been sitting on it's hands wrt another striker. It's pretty clear from what Powell's been saying that it remains a priority and has been since before Vaughan's unfortunate injury. Strikers are one of the most difficult positions to fill. Ones in form naturally want to be kept by a club unless silly money is being thrown at them and they think they might already have a replacement (eg Swansea). Ones not doing so well are a gamble and you then risk the ire of the 'knowledgeable fan' with their stats 'he's only scored x in x number of games'. I don't think th eclub should show it's hand too much over potential targets and ongoing negotiations, it usually ends up scuppering the deal or driving the asking price up.

Hope it's a quick recovery and that we see a bit more of Joe Lolley in the meantime Lolley must be knackered after Sat. He got 9 mins on the pitch, more than double what he's used to! To him it'll be like he played 200 mins

What's the huge rush, especially when Vaughan was fit? We're hardly in a dire position with regards relegation and we're not squandering a shot at the play offs. Much better to get the right one in at the right price, surely? Obviously it would have been preferable to get one in before Ward, Hammil, Stead and Paterson left, but you're never sure if the opportunity to offload these guys would have come again. It's also not like the club aren't aware or are not attempting to get someone in.

Given that Powell's been here going on for 5 months you'd have thought he'd have a had a list of targets lined up ready for when the transfer window opened and have sounded their agents out as to if they'd be interested in coming here, particularly if he knew we were going to be offloading Stead, Paterson, Ward & Hammill.
He may have been knocked back on one or two but surely there must be some decent young Premier League strikers looking for experience available or maybe some experienced lower league strikers who've knocking them in for fun.
Town have form when it comes to leaving it to the last minute instead of going for their targets early and getting the benefit from them. Think back to when we sold Rhodes at the eleventh hour and tried to get Beckford in only for Leicester to change their mind when it was too late to look elsewhere (we eventually got him in later).
Regardless of Vaughan's injury we've known for months that we need a back up or somebody to push him & Wells.

Why do you make daft threads and then post in the thread you should have just posted in in the first place?
