John Stead was brilliant against Chelsea on the highlights I saw. He is yet another player who was not given a fair chance by Town (second time around). How he could be rated behind a waste of space like Danny Ward I cannot understand.
Unfortunately there have been may of them over the years. I think this has lately been caused partly by the size of the squad due to the generosity of the chairman.
Another recent example is Scott Arfield. Not good enough for Town but a regular for Burnley in their promotion team and in the Premiership!
I fear the next player on this track seems to be Gobern.

@scottannear83: he looked every bit as good as he did in the Premier League, why you've got him out on loan I don't know? They deserved it 100%
From my mate who's a Chelsea fan.. But I guess these things happen in football. Every dog has his day. It's all about consistency, and how a player fits into a team / system / coaching set up.

FA Cup tie where Chelsea appeared to go through the motions, especially at 2 nil up..
A great display from the whole City team, including Stead. A 'one off'? possibly..
John and others got more time and space yesterday than they will get in a league game for the rest of the season..
Lets see how he goes..

How good was he away at Yeovil last week when they lost 1 nil?

Let's see if Stead puts in the same standard of performance against Colchester next week in the league.

He looked totally dis interested Town 2nd time around. Glad he went. In a way glad he's doing well at Bradford as it means we don't have to have him sat in the stands draining a wage. Poor signing from Robins to go with Peltier this season.

Poor signing from Robins to go with Peltier this season. If you had seen him pre-season in the development squad friendlies, when he was putting full effort in as well as helping the youngsters around him, you would not say that. You may not rate him as a player second time around but "totally disinterested" is simply untrue.

Didn't look disinterested when he was banging in the winner against Leeds.

Did you see any of his performances for town ? That's the only evidence we need.... He wasn't good enough not by a million miles Move on

We'd have never scored that 4th goal as nobody makes those types of runs, so he'd have held the ball up and then lost it at some point or had to go back to left back as we'd have our "balanced" team. That doesn't equate to disinterested.
But he needed to move on, and good for him for doing well / Bradford for giving him the chance.

I don't think that it is a coincidence that Steady is playing as an out and out number 10 for Sadford alongside a big target man. Most of the time for us he was played either on his own or as the target man. Steady can't play that role and it's no surprise that he looks better playing to his strengths. Good luck to him.

So we're judging him on 8 minutes of highlights where he's played the game of his life - over the previous decade of well, the stuff that made no one bat an eye when he went on loan there last season or this.
Cracking game yesterday and every player looked to have played out of their skin, but let's not get carried away.

Mind you I wasn't that impressed by him in that Charlton cup game they all raved about. Thought he was better in the half time warm up pinging balls with Jack Hunt. Scoring against Boro early this season sticks in the mind too and getting my ribs crushed by 'White shite' Ben.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing as they say!!!
The acid test to me is that if you asked any Town fan when Arfield was released and Stead loaned, I bet less than a handful would bemoan the decisions.
This to me tells you all you need to know!!!

This to me tells you all you need to know!!! Exactly.. We can't afford to keep paying wages to players who 'might' turn up eventually.. Both had enough opportunity to impress!

He's only involved in the ones that go well? I think most of the time on here it feels like he's only involved in the ones that DON'T go well.

One of the biggest question being asked by the media this weekend was why have Town have allowed a "very impressive " Stead to go to Bradford when town have been struggling themselves. At least Stead has had a proper taste of F A Cup football with Bradford , and an experience that will also go down in F A Cup history.

If they're asking themselves that it's because they never saw him for us, so they don't know what they're talking about.

Stead disinterested?! This time last year he was mightily pissed off that he wasn't even getting on the bench despite being fit to play.
I liked Robins but his man managerial skills were shite.

Strange ,but i also remember the media asking the same question not long ago as to why town let Arfield go to Burnley on a" free transfer". That was big talk on radio 5 live among some top ex managers after he made some outstanding performances especially against Chelsea.

Whereabouts have the media been asking about Stead? I've seen him roundly praised, indeed given MOTM in a couple of papers, but not a whisper about Town on anything.
