I notice Norwich have lost their head of football recruitment today.
Couldn't be bothered to start a thread about it, but...well, it's a thing.

I thought he over acted his role of 'penalty baffoon' last saturday.

What a load of bollocks, even for you Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards Why mate, He's just missed two pens and cost us at least a point. He gets away with murder imo. No balls, just my opinion and many walking down St andrews . Did he miss the first one or did the keeper save it?

If RW was"all that" why do we have players with such limitations. Why if they have been researched so well are they so inconsistent in effort and performance. Why sign a player like Wells when it must have been obvious after all the times they had him watched that he needs muscle along side him, when our muscle was so injury prone? There seems very little hope for us at all when looking to "improve on what we have got", a phrase so often banded about when the club talks of signings and then we sign Edgar! If he was that good at finding really good players why have we struggled season on season and gone through the managerial merry go round. At the start of this season much wqas lauded by the club to how they had signed captains, we would have real leadership out there we were told.Well thats worked out well hasnt it? That cull we saw in Jan needs extending this summer, whether replacements will be any good or not is anybodys guess but it couldnt be much worse. I would much much rather see our own academy lads funded by the fans have a good go than the half arsed approach of the current lot.

No balls, just my opinion and many walking down St andrews . No balls? Took some to step up and take that second penalty, regardless of the outcome. Also kept wanting the ball after those misses rather than went into hiding. Go and have a lie down, leave the Internet alone for the rest of your life Nick. Is what you meant to say

Do Southampton have a Crystal ball and can see that the majority of our recent signings are going to turn into top quality players despite their questionable start? No they don't, they've gone on reputation and the fact he talks a good game same as town and Watford did. This had been discussed to death on here and nobody has been able to produce anything tangible to suggest boy wonder can walk the walk. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

If he had no balls he wouldnt have taken the 2nd pen but he did. He's our best finisher and was miles better today than his partner. And if you look at his post on twitter he's devastated at not at least getting us a point when with a bit of luck he'd have had a hat trick. For what its worth I dont think anyone would have scored from the spot today with that keepers spawn anyway. I'd have knocked it in but there you go I don't think it was a question of balls at all. The delay never helps as it obviously gives the pen taker a lot of time to ponder its importance. I reckon 7 out of 10 regular penalty takers would have muffed it. Then he over compensated for the second one. Glenn Murray took a belting pen at the weekend - blasted it straight in to the roof of the net. When Vaughan tried to do that he either hit the bar or smashed it over. Forgetting the penalty misses did you think Nahki had a good game v Fulham? I thought he was poor but Miller had a decent game.

So Southampton are guessing he's good at his job? Educated guess for sure, but essentially that's what we all do when we hire someone, in any business. You can do as much due diligence as you want but you can never be absolutely certain someone will do a great job. The future is not completely predictable!

So to sum up then, what you're saying is Ross Wilson is a con artist who has tricked the football world into thinking he's good at his job? I actually know somebody who works at Southampton football club as a first team coach, I also know a scout at Huddersfield who both rave about him and his ethos. They speak very highly of him and his approach. But of course, town fans know best.

Why are we all saying Hudson is proving to be not up to the job, why was wells selected when he can only cut it with a big man alongside him? The evidence does not support the spin i am afraid.

If any of us had the chance to move from our small club from a poor Town centre to a big Premiership club in the rich south get nearly all of us would jump at it. Good luck to him, must feel very exciting for him.

Because unfortunately our recruitment last summer was underpinned and rubber stampe by the useless robins - and Powell wants to change it! There is nothing wrong with Hudson or wells - both are proven at this level, the former massively so as he proved initially when he came! What we need is balanced recruitment this summer.......two proper full backs and a left sided attacker for a start. With balance will come a lot less churn and the likes of Hudson and wells won't be as exposed as they have been this season....the team will pull together more rather than being a collection of individuals which at times we become when under pressure. Wilson I'm sure has and will make a quality list of what's available within our means - at 4/500k pa for decent players at this level any mistakes are magnified on our budget but the acquisitions of butterfield, Coady, Hogg are all decent IMHO.

I take it he's still here, oozing his influence until the end of the season? I wonder if Lord Awesome can stop us getting relegated? He's done an awesome job directing our football lately, because lets face it, over the last 6 games 22 teams are less Ross Wilson than us.

Enlighten us to how he's made our first team unbeatable. In fact, enlighten me on how, directing our entire football operations, he is in no way responsible for the sh1t currently being served, with an ever increasing sign of relegation.

Some people don't seem to grasp that you won't pull out 10 Lionel Messi's on a hugely restricted budget. His job is to find players, present a list of potential players to the manager using scouting reports, and data from prozone as a supplement as to why each player has been selected and what they can bring to a number of systems and roles, and then the manager makes the decision of which one to go for. I've heard a few things from someone close to him that he's had a number of very decent players lined up, but the lack of budget has sadly scuppered the majority of deals. Chris Wood and Benik Afobe for example. I was reading the Hatib Cham threads (LSM and Moaner were right btw) and we were talking about decent young players such as Danny Racchi, Adam Field etc not so long ago... All kids from within the Huddersfield area and borders. NONE of them would get close to our current 18's and 21's now. After Ross's networking we're bringing kids in from all over Ireland, Scotland, Scandinavia and the quality of kids has ramped up MASSIVELY from a few years ago when we were hoping Daniel Broadbent would be the next big thing. This time last year we had over 50 triallists in from all over the shop... Danny Kane is another one - the Irish schoolboy captain - he had the choice of Liverpool, Ipswich, us and a few others and due to Ross and Mark Lillis he chose us. We were also in the running for a very good young player from Oldham not so long since - he went to Man City, but the point is, pre RW we wouldn't even have identified him, never mind identified him at the same time as Man City and got us to the negotiation table and present a genuine alternative. The problem is that most of that is not visible and the work he does is almost stealth like, and because it's not in the public eye it's difficult to measure for people. His job goes way beyond the product on the pitch. Since his introduction Town's scouting network has gone way beyond anything that it's ever been before at all levels, the amount of data going through the club is 100% more. If there's a player that pops up, Town are no longer last to know about them, we're quite high up the queue - the problem as always for us is that other clubs also have a Ross Wilson and also have a much larger budget to beat us to these players. He did a good job. Could someone else have done it? Perhaps, but no one did. He'll be a miss for the club if he isn't sufficiently replaced, and hopefully the network he's set up at the club will remain in place for the next incumbent to be shot at by the DATM scapegoat crew.

Precisely how hard is it to identify Chris Wood and Benik Afobe as players that would improve the team? All of us could do that. All of us would also appreciate that players of that calibre are beyond our budget so I'm failing to see how groundbreaking his work was.
