As far as I know he's still looking for a club after being released by Ipswich. Looked like an important member of the West Ham squad when he was there just plagued by injuries.
Would you want Town to take a risk on him? Must be worth a punt on a trial or some sort of rolling contract.

With Lynch, Hogg and Vaughan I think we have enough injury prone players in our squad.

On a pay as/if you play, yes. I'd do the same with Vaughan next summer as well

The assumption no one else would want Vaughan and his best option would be to sign a "pay as you play" deal with Town is ludicrous. Have you seen the money clubs in our division throw around?! Signing Vaughan, potentially on a free, would be pretty low risk to the majority of Championship clubs.

If he gets 8k every time he starts a match and 2k for every goal he scores, then its not too bad is it? I'b be surprised if he's offered more than 5-6k a week again on a normal contract. One things for sure, he won't be offered a massive salary on a non pay as you play contract again. He's got what, 18 goals almost 2 seasons? The maths just don't add up I'm afraid for a budget like ours. And thats as much as I like him.

Yes it would, but for Huddersfield, using a huge proportion of the budget to make him the highest paid player in the squad again would be pretty high risk.

I'm sure Vaughan would be able to find a permenant contract at another championship club, it should be a priority in the summer to get his contract sorted. However it looks like Collinson is desperate to prove his worth so maybe he would go for a pay as you play deal. When was Vaughans last serious injury? Apart from the face injury which could of happened to anyone.

He'd be daft to take that sort of deal, at least three quarters of the Championship would offer him more than £10k a week basic never mind for playing and scoring every week. It's a lot of money don't get me wrong but it's relative to the person involved and their current lifestyle. His game has definitely changed since he came back though which must obviously be geared to getting more games from him, if that's the case for the rest of this season and first half of next season I'd have thought there's a good chance we'll lose him anyway. Edit - As for Collison a short term deal would be good in my opinion as he was (is?) a very talented player it just depends how much of a toll injuries have had on him. Shame for him because he was looking like he was going to have a very good career but at least he still has time.

But how much would it cost to replace a player of that calibre, especially if we didn't get a fee for him? To me, he's worth the risk of another contract due to his undoubted qualities and we seem to have offloaded some other high earners, so hopefully it wouldn't stretch the club too much.

Its interesting a few people think it would be so daft for him, but paradoxically, I honestly think Huddersfield would be daft to deploy so much of the budget on player whom is injured half the season more often than not and perhaps isn't quite the same force he once was when he is playing. He's scored 6 goals or something this season.... But on the other hand I hope your right and we do get a lot more games out of him.

I think Vaughan has earnt a contract, I'm sure something can be negotiated about any long term I juries within there but if he misses a game though a knock, ban or bad form then he's paid. This summers main priorities should be to get his contract sorted and to keep hold of our better performers such as Scannell.

He's absolutely worth another contract if the money/deal is right.

Yeah I'm not saying it's right or wrong but from his point of view I do think he'd be daft to take because I've no doubt he would get a far better deal elsewhere. To be fair to him he could've gone elsewhere after his loan spell here and earned far more than he has but he showed some loyalty having promised he would sign for us but I think this would be a step too far for him.

heard little murmours at birmingham and last home game he is trying to engineer a move to cardiff a lot of chat with pelts apparently. id like to keep him however if we can get money in for him to develope the defence then id let him go id also let wells go too and try and bring in players that can play the focal point of a front 3 as i think that seems to be when we play best and lets us have a good midfield 3
