Yeah, they mentioned that to him, although I'm not sure why such a quality player would be loaned out to a promotion rival. He'd be a shoe in for me.

How does that make him the same as Bassong? My post was about MEDALS, not simply promotion. Granted, Bristol City won the title so he'll get a medal for that, but Bury went up automatically too and you get nowt in terms of silverware for finishing second or third.

You get nothing for finishing second? Watford finished second, so how did Bassong get a medal exactly?

That's cool, I'm not actually sure whether El-Abd got two either, because quite a few of his fourteen league games for Bristol City appear to have actually been the season before, I was passing on something I saw on Twitter! My recollection was that second placed teams didn't get medals as well, but it must have changed recently. Bury definitely got medals, because this guy got one, then got told he was being transfer listed! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32848140I found another couple. Billy Bodin played for Swindon, Crewe, and Torquay (the latter two on loan) in the 2011-2012 season. They all finished in the top seven, with Swindon and Crewe gaining promotion and Torquay losing their play off semi final. He played more games for Torquay than the other two. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_BodinThen Jamal Campbell-Ryce played for Southend and Colchester (both on loan from Rotherham, who almost got relegated) in the 2005-2006 season, although he might not have played enough for Colchester to get a medal, if they gave them out then. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamal_Campbell-RyceAre there any Town examples? The closest I can think of off the top of my head would be Paul Moulden!

question is should you be able to loan players to teams in the same division???
seems a bit odd, you parent club needs a result in a game you are playing for somebody else in??? ie; they might not want you to win...etc...
did bassong have a very poor game against us or others in the run in???
conspiracy theorists might wish to have a look...?
nah, footballers are models of honesty and professionalism aren't they? nothing to see here...

I suppose having things like promotion bonuses on the line could make this more of an issue, but a player transferred in January might still be able to claim a promotion bonus from his old club, if he's played enough games, so would we have to ban mid season transfers between teams in the same division for the same reason?
I think it's a good idea to have limits on the number of loan deals a club can make. The number of players Chelsea loan out and all the Udinese players Watford brought in a couple of years ago spring to mind.
Bonus question: Who won the top division as a player in the same season as being relegated from it as a manager?

And here's another similar quiz question which is really rather easy. Which player scored play-off goals for the same team, TWELVE YEARS apart?
