Seems they're taking their statistical approach/soccernomics up another level. Their new coaching setup
Gianni Vio - set piece coach, was at AC Milan last season, article about him here Robert Rowan - Head of Football Operations, formerly of Celtic Bartek Sylwestrzak - ball striking specialist coach Tom Bates - performance psychologist Paul Williams - Logistics Manager, ex-Southampton academy bod and former pro
Apparently the ball striking specialist taught this lad to do this:
Will be interesting to see if last season was just a flash in the pan or whether they really have found the answer

I read the book and I hope that Brentford show the football world how to do it, I believe in the model.

I posted this a while back when it seemed Warburton was going ... Spoke to a journalist friend of mine who is also a Brentford fan to get the inside track on it and basically Benham (the owner) wants/wanted to push the idea further and take it to the limit. "I'm surprised more journos haven't dug out Nowhere Men and quoted from it around this story. Benham wants to go completely moneyball. Warburton vetoed six possible new signings in January plus a set-piece coach and a "sleep guru". Benham said next season he won't be able to veto anything. So Warburton said he would leave. But this might not be the end, especially if we get promoted (which surely won't happen; it's impossible to imagine)." Read more: downatthemac.proboards.com/user/1176/recent#ixzz3efi9YFjT

The manager at Midtjylland (the other club these guys own) left as well. Seems like not many managers want to work under these conditions.

Cheers One book is called The Numbers Game, the other is called Soccernomics In my opinion, they're both interesting reads, but like everything they should only be part of your consideration rather than becoming a bible by which to run your club by. No one can deny that stats do help a club understand its team and opponents better, but to base your entire club ethos on stats drives all the fun out of the game. Just look at the England cricket team

AC Milan were utterly shite at set pieces last season, so I'm a little surprised by this development.

Think they've a wealthy owner and with a new stadium on the horizon they're pushing the boat out maybe with a view to pushing for the playoffs yet again. Clearly they are another club who don't give a shit about FFP !!
