So two weeks ago he was loving it at Town, and wants more assists, goals ect,now he wants to leave,,,he's either a lying cnt,,,or he has the memory span of a guppy, What's a guppy? Somebody told me earlier but I forgot. Aweek is a long time in football things change and if town are prepared to accsept a offer the player has every right to go thats football money talks or do some on here live in a fantasy world.?

Chief executive Nigel Clibbens told BBC Radio Leeds: "We are in a great position financially.
"We can sell players when we want to and it's best for the club."
He added: "With Dean Hoyle as chairman we don't have to do anything that we don't wish to, whereas in the past we have maybe been forced a little.
"Ultimately everyone is a selling club, even Manchester United sold Cristiano Ronaldo, but the important thing is that you sell at the time of your choosing

If he was the best Leeds had why did they release him ? He's sat in front of the Boro defence and let Leadbetter run the show until Wembley At Town he was blowing out of his arse by HT every game. But I haven't played to the same standard as you apparently(whatever that was). I was under the impression you were a card carrying loony who lived for starting weird threads on here not some ex pro whose opinions should, in future, be taken more seriously Sent from my SM-G900F using proboards Clayton is/was quality, he was more or less ever present in a very successful boro side, not the main man by any means but he did the job Karanka asked of him. Playing much deeper then he did for us which probably suits him as he's not got the best engine. I'd take Butterfield over him all day long but the are both top championship midfielders. He did very well to take POTS to say he was blowing out of his arse at HT every game, maybe a slight exageration? Exactly.

Town are more of a selling club now than they've ever been. Only because they have more to sell than they've ever had. Two ways of spinning everything...

I guess that's where we differ. I'd put Coady, along with Lynch and Butterfield as the 3 I'd least like to sell and most like to build a team around. If you see Coady as 6th in the list then fair enough. Life goes on. I'd go with Butterfield, Scannell, Lynch, Vaughan, Smithies (controversial for a lot but for me bizarrely underrated by a lot of town fans, it'll only become obvious when he eventually leaves) I'd be more disappointed with if they went and I'd put him on a par with Bunn, doesn't mean I don't rate him or his potential but if he's the one player to go and we can get good money and improve elsewhere it's not the biggest disaster in the world. Its his ability to play that deep midfield role for me and how he goes about. Players who can do this properly are as rare as hens teeth. I see Scannell, Vaughan amd Smithies as fairly easily replaceable. Been waiting donkeys years for us to get someone to balance up a midfield - then we go and flog him.

If they choose now as the right time then I'll agree to disagree with them... But then, there's a whole load of information that they have access to that I do not. For example, how the academy players are developing or who else is available.

Class player, wouldnt be happy. Finally got our midfield sorted after years of trying (and CC was a big part of that) and looks like we're breaking that up. Hopefully we dont revert back to the many poor midfield displays we've seen before last season

Bit depressed about this. The lad has more potential than actual ability but I think he will fulfil it. Great spot by the club in the first place and hope they have another up their sleevies somewhere.

On that basis you might as well call all formations 4-4-2. They key to me is having 3 in central midfield and I struggle to call that 4-4-2. All formations are fluid, or should be. Ours certainly was last season and Powell was always tinkering with it thoughout a game. We had 4 defenders on the pitch most of the time. 2 centre backs , a right back and a left back. We had 2 strikers most of the time too ( not always by any stretch but most of the time). That leaves 4 midfielders. But the whole thing should be fluid. Full backs push on when we have the ball and become an extra midfielder ( 352) . Midfielders push on and become an extra forward. (343) When defending an attacker might fdrop back and become an extra midfielder ( 451 ) 442 is a standard base formation, bit it never just stays like that. We played with a very unorthodox formation for most of last season but I agree we mostly had 11 players on the pitch.

Deano/Powell are going to have to pull a rabbit out of the bag to placate the fans............ Or offer season ticket refunds. Best players sold year on year for the last 4 years, relegation looms unless he is replaced by better. He was a great athlete and played almost every game. To replace that, is going to very tough.

£2m minus £375k we paid minus 30% sell on clause. Over £1m profit but losing a great future talent

We've also prob received more in transfer fees over the last 5 years than we did the previous 100. A lot of offers too good to turn down (not sure if this is the case here tho tbh)

In the minority it seems but £2million is a cracking deal I have to agree that £2mm is a cracking deal for someone you have paid £350k for 12 months earlier. Wish we could inflate Nahki to £7.4mm.

I am a little upset by this myself but I am certain the club and Coady have known about this transfer for a while . I am positive we will have somebody lined up to take his place before long and just hope his replacement proves to be as good. What has upset me more than anything is I honestly believed the midfield including Coady were starting to look very effective towards the end of last season. Life goes on though. UTT.

Just like the difficult job of replacing Clayton which we managed with ease Unlike many.... I never rated Clayton anyway. I thought we would be better without him and as it turned out we were.... Also the replacement was already lined up and part of the deal, which anyone following football as long as I have would have known we were getting an absolute gem of a player in butterfield. Coady was the one who replaced Norwood, again wasnt fussed he was leaving as I didnt rate him aside from his first 10-15 games for town when he looked like the next Paul Scholes. Its not the quality that is hard to replace, he was getting better rather than already there.... Its his athleticism, durability and the fact he was virtually an ever present last year, and doesnt look to suffer with injury problems or fatigue, which many young players do. He will be replaced, thats football, but this is the one area we now need to get absolutely bang on..... Hogg, Whitehead and Butterfield all have a history of injuries If we are putting our eggs in Billings basket then thats fair enough, he deserves his chance, but i would have much prefered Hogg out of the 4 currently on the books to leave, we are only an injury away from relegation if the current 3 are our first choice.

If he's gonna be sold at least early July is better than a few days before deadline day as previously. Hopefully the cash can then be invested wisely without lastminute.com panic buying.

Oh dear talk about over reacting! Good first half of the season, not too great second half. Might turn out to be the next Gerrard but unlikely or Liverpool would have kept him. The 2 players I would have been annoyed at losing this summer are Butterfield and Scannell but even then I wouldn't have been asking for a refund on my season ticket.
