Brain washed for a bit of extra cash? Are you kidding me? He's actually at a club with ambition now! Wolves will be comfortably top six next season! Would have loved him to stay for another season, but it wasn't to be! Dunno how can anyone be bitter about this move? Good luck to the lad!

It's official, he's gone. Sizeable profit made, but I don't think it's too much of a loss. Yes, he's a good player, but not a patch on Clayton, who we sold for less money. We still have a strong midfield of Butterfield, Hogg and Whitehead and maybe we'll see the likes of Holmes breaking into the 1st team this season! UTT! Hope with the mention of the terms being right for the club that we stuck in some add ons and a sell on fee. Be utterly stupid not to. Of course they will. We lost out on several hundred thousand pounds as a result of Middlesboros no show in the play off final, as an example.

His agent will now be busy trying to engineer a move to the premier league for the start of next season and more money.

Probably reading too much in to it but for Powell to mention that Coady wanted to pursue the move does make it sound like he pushed for it.

Best get those refunds sorted deano....... will turn out to be a poor deal for town, good luck to him, Im sure our odds for the drop have also dropped........ 1 million pound profit now for certain relegation in may.
I say it in jest really before you all say im overreacting, but this summers recruitment needs to be BANG on, ill wait to pass judgement on the two that have come in, but I could do with a little more inspiration, a foreigner or two may add a bit of excitement!!! Im just not feeling it, and my hope for the future has just left the building with Coady, I dont see anyone else currently really pushing on to the levels I believe he will.

Yes, everything thats happened over the past 8 years, REALLY points to us as being a club with no ambition. Think thats the main reason why we're still stuck in league 1 with a squad worth nothing, training at a shite hole we don't own and playing at a stadium we don't own. Ive heard we're scouting round some League 2 clubs for the next malvin kamara to kick us on, so don't worry about any lack of ambition here!

£1.6m profit in under a year is nothing to be scoffed at. He's a good player with a lot of potential, but then again so were Clayton and Norwood. Its a good deal for us and as with Clayton and Norwood, sometimes losing a player you think is good is better for the team. You guys don't know what Powell/The board have planned and Coady might have just been an extra player who won't be playing under a new formation/style Powell wants to implement. Similarly, the club hasn't signed anyone for a fee just yet having cleared the wage bill since January, signed 2 guys on frees, and now sold Coady. Dean said he'd make money available to his manager and so far none of that has been spent on transfer fees. This might lead up to a great centre back signing for all we know.. It'll be c£1.2m profit with Liverpool taking 25% of the £1.6m (if the figure is £2m as widely speculated).

If you read my posts you'll see I'm not actually that bothered, you sound a lot more wound up than I am. My post was aimed more at the "we're stupid for selling him/we've no ambition blah blah blah" camp not at the player. Wind your neck in.

I wonder when the club will give us some positive news on incomings... because even though this transfer is probably a good deal, it hardly inspires confidence amongst supporters does it? the fans need some good news now.

Agreed. So far we haven't strengthened at all, merely replaced outgoings

Let`s look on the bright side - if we`d just spent 2 million quid on Coady, he wouldn`t be our best midfielder.

He wasnt outstanding, but he was only young. 2 million represents good value for us, but I think wolves will really cash in someday. Hopefully we have a sell on clause a similar size to what Liverpool had with us.

Was a bit of a shock to hear about this but cant blame him as he is moving to a bigger club with a realistic chance of promotion this season and no doubt a big payrise.
That has to be one of the quickest profits we have made on a player though as it wasn't even 12 months ago we signed him! I hope we already have his replacement lined up unless we are going to risk it with our U21 players.
The truth is we have to be a selling club to survive but aslong as we can turn in a few million per year in sales it seems sustainable. Trouble is you have to keep finding the next player. Do we have another slice of the Rhodes money this summer too???

Just heard from a Wolves fan who I work with and he says that this rumour is a load of bull shit - It's a rumour they've started as a laugh on a Wolves forum and the local paper has picked up on it. Nothing to see here, move along Bit awkward that Why??

Its just a shame we cant do it like Southampton and develop a good few at the same time, get to the prem, cash in and replace them. We just seem to play at it, one or two at a time, to tick over and remain "sustainable".
Surely if this is the model for a sustainable football club, then with a tweak here and there, and an expansion in recruitment, its also the model for a club that can actually turn a profit or push on???...

Disappointed about Connor but hes not a midfielder hes a centre half really , we developed him last season in his new role and he did well. Would have been gutted if it was butterfield and i reckon Phil Billing will step up to the plate. The best thing about Coady is that he is a leader and i expect him to captain clubs as a centre half in the coming years. Good luck lad.
