I find it baffling when people say pay his contract off, but would agree with this, especially whilst we have some money to go out and get a replacement. Saying that, with the recent exponential hike in the price for a striker at our level, it's probably not gonna be easy! I certainly won't be expecting one that's as good as a fully firing Vaughan. I dont think Vaughan's body will ever allow him to be fully firing again We got lucky he played a fair few games consecutively our first season up here with Beckford up top with him. Last season the facial fracture was admirable he battled on. However the lad is an expensive crock who drains too much off the wage bill.

Just let Blackburn take over his contract, easy. He then had to prove to Blackburn he's worthy of a new one to them.,

Aren't Blackburn under an embargo anyway do couldn't pay a fee? Maybe he'd have to be 'released' so he could sign for them. Whatever the logistics, if it saves us £15k pw that's £780k this year. Would fund 2 loanees.

You really think we are going to attract decent experienced Championship players when we cant afford the wages, get real people if we stay up its a miracle after the departures of Coady Butters Smithies and JV

I don't expect us to stay up after all the departures gone and ongoing at the moment..
If we do it'd be a bonus. Just hope we fight to the end and CP gives us a chance. GO AT TEAMS!!

I may be wrong but was under the impression Blackburn cannot pay more than 10 k a week due to embargo.

Surely it would be a simple loan until end of season, we'd still have to pay some of his wages. No one will buy him. Still think this has been very poorly handled.

I'd be starting to worry that we're going to need too many to come in if Vaughan and butterfield go. We already need a right back, possibly another keeper, a centre back and a replacement for Coady.
To throw in another centre mid and a striker is like the erratic transfer dealings of a kid on a computer game!!
On the other hand the board have never let us down to date other than having serveral failed managerial appointments - We have continually improved so keep the faith!!

I'd rather we weren't helping out another team who maybe around the same position in the table come the season's end.

We need to get one thing straight, dean himself said "in terms of wages we have protected ourselves in the case of Vaughan being injured"
That was when we extended Vaughans contract.
So I don't think the wages are an issue, we probably wouldn't need to buy him out of his contract if he chose to leave for a longer contract.
I just think it is more detrimental to the team having a player who is in and out of the team, it offers no consistancy or stability. It makes it worse that he's one of the first names on the team sheet when fit. How must that be for the other forwards? Wondering if they will play or not.
It just think we would be better off with stability in that position

Hard to know if thats just down to him not wanting to play for town anymore though. Strange how different a player he looked last season to the one before. Partly down to injuries im sure but i think a bigger part was his attitude

The poor chap has had that many injuries it must be impossible for him to trust his body and really play beyond himself.
A shame to see it but I'd imagine his decline will be swift when the mental scars match those on his knees.

I think he has psychologically signed off at Town, clearly he has fantastic pedigree and ability but I always wondered if he thought he was too good for us. In effect without his injuries he would have been but that said I have mostly enjoyed watching him play, always have 100% but not convinced we will ever see that again in a town shirt.
