I liked Kieran as a player and for the most part enjoy his analysis on RL. I was sorry to hear that Kieran was leaving RL (after 16 years) - anyone know what he is going on to do? Good luck Kieran and thanks for the memories!

Good luck Kieran and thanks for the memories! Because he works during the week and does RL most Saturdays he wants more golf time. He'll be sorely missed by me anyway, but good luck to him, he's been fantastic. Mind you I'm comparing him to other guest summerisers on the same radio station.

It'll be weird without him but I can't do with him personally. Makes a point and then just keeps making the same one, over and over during and after the game.

Played in one of my first games I went to as a kid. Had to go in goal and then came up to take a penalty later in the game. Bury at home I believe. We won 2-1

We won 2-1 I remember him as a player from my early days too. As a summariser/pundit he can sometimes be a bit "glass half empty" but he's obviously very passionate, and if we've lost he's often saying exactly what I'm thinking but in a far more eloquent way (if I was summarising, OFCOM would be on the phone before you could say "F***ing hell, Davidson is f***ing sh*te!").

It will be odd not hearing him on RL. As a player, he played in just about every position for Town. No in between performances with him, he was either brilliant or he was dreadful.

Agree with this And his half empty glass balances Oggy's over optimistic outlook I'll miss him being there

Sadly, Kieran's commentary was very often the kiss of death. How many times did he curse us in the last few minutes? By saying something like the following: "We must win this now, only two minutes to go." Then we conceded.

What do you want him to do... change his mind every five minutes just to entertain you? I've enjoyed his astute observations over the years and personally I shall miss his honest take on things.

I reckon thats the first time in 16 years hes been attributed as an eloquent speaker! Seems to have a few stock opinions that he falls back on and repeats over and over again pretty much irrespective of the nuances of the actual ongoing game. "up the tempo"..."listen, Oi've played the game and youve got to clear those long down field" etc.

Don't mind him at all. Tells it like it is. I'll miss his "all eyes are on the 4th official" with 3 mins to go in a close game. Obviously, if Town scores with 3 mins to go no-one will see it.

Won't be missed by me, far too negative at times. couldn't disagree more ...passionate and commentates with a mix of former player and fan and more often than not he's spot on imo. won't be easy to replace for me.

All the best Kieran if you come on here.
As I live in New York I listen almost every week and he makes it an enjoyable experience no matter the result.

A proper Town man. I remember him scoring some screamers for us, including a cracker on the day of Hillsborough if I remember.
28 years since he joined us as a player, he missed a few years at WBA I think then back to Halifax then a summariser with Town. Pretty much a whole professional life dedicated to football in West Yorks.
I've never understood how any Town fan couldn't like him.

No, but in the course of a 90 minute football game there are many points that can be raised, not just the same one ad nauseum. (IMO) He's there to provide a more technical analysis that simple commentary alone, in essence to educate me on the finer nuances of the game that someone who has never played as a professional might not pick up.

I must admit to liking the way K O'R refers to "US" when talking about Town. He may not be the most incisive unbiased analyst (having blue and white blood does that to a lot of us!) but even some of the critics on here have to admit that his heart is in the right place. And I assume, as he appears to have a job to do as well as chattering about football like Owen, Linekar, Shearer et al, he doesn't have a lot of preparation time (as they do) and just gives us his (informed) take on the game. I will certainly miss his contribution, I hope R.Leeds manage to find a replacement who is as good. Good luck to him in whatever he does next.

I think a lot of the frustration I have is that like a lot of players of that generation, he talks about football like its not changed since his day. When you hear Peter Clarke, Nathan Clarke, Neal Redfearn (who really annoyed me the first time I heard him, but he rapidly grew on me), and Matt Glennon doing the job, theres a relevance to what they say, they have a connection and insight about todays football that is worth hearing and you feel youre learning something. Still...good effort to keep at it for so long and presumably holding down a job as well...I doubt its something I could do with coming across as a total idiot. Lets hope whoever is next puts the same effort in.

Always liked him on the radio. Still can't forgive him for missing 2 pens at Preston in 1991 though. We lost one nil.

I'll miss his commentary. He was a good foil for oggy & they made an excellent team. He has his detractors but they'll be big shoes to fill. Hope they pick well. Shame he's not giving it one more season as it could be a belter for town....& he's right Town have lacked real characters in the team for years!
