Its possibly too soon to assess progression at the moment and in my opinion we will know a lot more by next October/November. Our league position suggests we have not really progressed this season but in the main Town supporters seem a lot happier under Wagner than they did under Powell.
I like Wagner and his attacking style of football but at the moment we are just not strong enough to break down teams such as Wednesday and Birmingham city who defend well then try and hit you on the break. I am hopeful though we can further improve with a few more acquisitions during the summer. I have certainly not been disappointed this season and I am in an upbeat mood for the beginning of next season. UTT.

Agreed, the only disappointment under Wagner is that the results haven't followed the brighter performances, that needs to be rectified for next season.

That's a very fair and reasonable assessment IMO.

we had a decent opportunity to finish with 3 good results..after a run of tough games..at least 3 good performances..Bristol it is said played better because they were 'happy to have stayed up'?
We were safe and therefore failed to perform at all..
The professional streak is missing and has been for some time here. How many points have we lost late on in games, how many late goals in the first half etc.. we are already in the changing rooms or in the players bar enjoying a good 'result or half time situation'..
killer instinct and hard nosed professionals required and quickly..

Fuck me we lost 4-0 to Bristol City in a complete dead rubber in the second to last game of the season. By all means question this season but this petty illogical arguing amongst fans is just daft. With a full pre season and his own players Wagner can take us to the next level. Let's face it if he can keep this bunch of misfits up that Powell got together then he could have us winning the champions league in 3 seasons. I didn't see Watford fans whinging like a bunch of babies when we stuffed them at their spot in the last game 2 seasons ago... they went and got themselves promoted instead! Optimistic, pessimistic or on the fence it does not matter. We are safe, games now mean nothing and we have plenty to look forward to next season. one, "With a full pre season and his own players Wagner can take us to the next level" no evidence of this being true yet two, this team is not powells misfit players. One- That is why I said CAN Two- RVP and Matmour aside they are players of previous managers But hey what's the point in being optimistic about next season when we can be pessimistic. We HAVE progressed this season in having an identity, a passionate manager and a rejuvenated chairman who has said he is now willing to substantially back the manager. We play better football than we have done in years so just imagine what we are capable of when the manager can bring in players who fit into his style.

If you believe that bristol and brentford are 'dead rubbers' and are happy for the performances and results to be so, then please dont continue with Wagner being unhappy and telling it like it is.. both you and some of the playing staff are the 'problem'... being shit and being told off, solves nothing.. If as expected a number of players are brought in, we need those remaining to want to fight for a place in the starting 11, where was the desire on saturday Its also Wagners job to get the players here already to perform, not just a load on newcomers..remember newcomers become regulars quite quickly in football.. I am aware of the better play, I have seen it but the hard edge and the professionalism required on our budget is still missing..

Considering we switched manager mid season, and remembering the type of football we were playing under Powell, it's a miracle we didn't get relegated. I'm sure Dean's comment to DW was .just keep us up this year, assess the capabilities and fitness of the squad, try and get us playing better football and we'll build from summer for next season and have a proper go at it.
So far so good I'd say.

There have been more threads this last season with the word progress in the title than any other season. That's progress.
The fact that Sir Dean of Hoyle says he is enjoying his football again is probably the biggest indicator, however.

If the season started when Wagner was appointed wouldn't we be top half? I swear I've read that somewhere... If that's not progress I'm not sure what is?

Playing good football.
Affordable football.
Academy players in the first team. ( pathways )
IMO that's good progression.

I think we need 3pts and a good performance against Brentford, let's move up a few places,,,send us into the summer happy, instead of being a team that finished just above the drop zone,,,,there's no excuse for a half arsed on the beach game on Saturday

Paralysis by analysis. Looking forward to Saturday to see how far I can finish up the prediction league, but then after that its 3 months rest from here. (well maybe Artys joke thread). Its all too much.

Yes, it's a fact that we are still in the lower echelons of the division. We have made absolutely no progress whatsoever, in any way shape or form. You win. And seeing as you are always right, there's no need for me to debate with you ever again. Result all round. Are you a girl?

The one stand out progression is that its more entertaining Not based on the games I have seen in the last couple of seasons - the last entertaining game I saw was Bolton (h) in September

on the basis that we are going to finish lower and get less points then I guess you could say after 6 years progress we have now taken our first step backwards

We started the season with Powell as manager, we finish it without Powell as manager
Huge progression in that alone
