Come on Tooooooown! I briefly considered the 3-4 hour drive with my 9 month old for this. I have opted against such a ridiculous move. Letting he/she go on her own instead... good man!

I hope Reading Terrier gets to sit down in his seat and no drunken Idiots ruin his day by standing and singing behind him.

Is he still supporting Town, now that Scannell isn't a shoe in for the starting 11 anymore.

Good Morning guys. As a Reading fan, I apologise for the idiot who has been polluting your board. His idea of banter is on a par with LUFC's version of fair play. For those with any interest in the matter, the club was indeed known as the Biscuitmen until the late 60s, when Huntley & Palmers moved their operation to Liverpool of all places. The "Royals" reflects the Royal County of Berkshire, which sadly no longer exists. The area around the Madstad is pretty soulless, but it is useful for the M4. The centre is situated around 3 miles north and there are regular football buses from the station. Looking forward to a cracking game, I think we may surprise you, but whatever the result, it will be a great day out. I expect to see you at or near the top of the pile come May. For us, we are a team in transition, but hopefully building and gelling enough to make a good showing this season. Anything above 10th would be a bonus. As a sensible Reading fan are you old enough to remember/ seen "The Best Player You Never Saw ?" ROBIN FRIDAY I started watching Town in Div.4 in 75 so I'm pretty sure I would have done but as a 12 year old it wouldn't have meant anything, indeed the first I ever heard of him was about 10 years ago when I read the book - I did hear it was being turned into a film but haven't heard a release date yet. The only Reading players from that sort of era I can remember are goalie Steve Death (D,eath as in Hayacinth Bouquet / Bucket) mainly cos he scored an own goal when we won 4.1 in 80/81 and defender Martin Hicks who scored own goals the season after in a 2.1 and 6.1 win for Town. Back to Robin Friday I can heartily recommend the book about him, amazing character who survived falling of scaffolding at a building site and being impaled up the arse by landing on a scaffold pole.

Good keeper the late Steve Death. We were on telly, attacked cowshed first half unusually, and missed a penalty - Kindon hit the bar

Don't forget Wayne Wanklyn :-) Wayne? FFS Played in the 4-1 game .. might have even scored for them EDIT Wanklyn was indeed the Reading scorer in a match possibly best remembered for their keeper Mr Death letting a Cowling cross go straight over him when his vision was obscured by the sun

Although I can't be sure, I seem to think it was ironically a Friday night game and that Strve Death played brilliantly but we won at a canter 2-0 or 3-0 and Robin Friday did nothing. We were both promotion rivals but Reading finished 3rd and we just missed out in 5th.

Not a bad place Reading. A cracking station, nice centre and some quality hotels. I got stung £6 for a Guinness last time I had a night out there though.
Anyone after a boozer who likes ale could do far worse the the Nags Head. Near Reading West station. No idea on football fan policy but I once spent z lovely afternoon bajingo'd in there.

Seems to me like you just need to make that final step and become a Reading fan and then your transformation will be complete What an astute posting the fact that I am able to compare both Towns having lived in both, appears to have passed you by. As does the fact that I am a season ticket holder and most likely go to more games than you a season, but please don't let facts stop you posting absolute bollocks.
