Results gone our way lads... Get in Burnley with their late winner. Palace losing again. Other results have been extremely kind to us of late! Long may it continue

Games we have shown too much respect to the opponents and not played our gengenpressing game and had a go attacking.
West Ham 2-0 Town Town 0-4 Spurs Swansea 2-0 Town Liverpool 3-0 Town Arsenal 5-0 Town Everton 2-0 Town Town 0-3 Chelsea
Will Wagner learn that this tactic isnt working.
IF he wants to do the defensive we need to be quick on the break and employ full backs and use 2 forwards.

Been a bit better since Whitehead came on actually. You mean since they stopped trying?

I'm confused at how people are being called spineless for wanting to have a go at teams? I'd rather get battered trying to play our game than battered parking the bus. We'll often make individual errors that will cost us either way because, man for man, we're lacking in Premier League quality (fitness, togetherness, spirit is where we can really compete). We've played Man City three times in the last year and done it without fear. Got a draw (against a team that was still pretty damned strong) and went ahead in both the other games. Just try to play like that a bit more, I'll be fucking proud in defeat and you never know, we might get the odd win or draw. Bit worried that the Spurs game has had a 'Lee Clark vs Millwall' effect on Wagner, shaken his confidence in the way he likes to go about things and now he's out of his comfort zone a little bit tactically. I'm not calling people for being spineless for the tactics, just that some people get on a downer in these games & I don't get why they can't see the bigger picture. I'd actually agree that maybe in these games we go with the Kindon-esque Depoitre against these sides and get a bit physical. We might get a reputation & we might finish one or two games with 10 men but it might win us a couple of points. Sometimes I think people forget the gulf in class with some of these sides. Chelsea and sides like them have spent gazillions in recent yrs. They are very good sides, but they have built massive momentum, quality, consistency etc. on the back of all that. There is no shame here, just need to focus on reality. As much as I dislike some of the patronising pundits, Robbie Savage is right in that it will not be games like this that define our season... It's an old cliche, but keep the faith folks...

For all the talk about how well Watford are doing they’re only 4 points ahead of us.
Big game next week...

Depoitre over Mounie to start every time . Mounié's great, but Depoitre definitely fits our style more IMO.

If we play to win. mounie suits our style of play. if he's isolated up front on his own he looks uninterested and who can blame him as it's not his game to harass. If the game is more compact, depoitre is the man. his physicality is crucial.

Mounie was chasing shadows at times tonight with no one else pressing and helping him out. 2 very different strikers we have. As you say it completely depends on our game plan who starts for me.

with watford losing tonight against palace, do we go there to win of do we go there to get the draw, baring in mind watford will be missing a couple of key players?
answers on a postcard marked 'go for the draw'

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.
Mounié has lost the shirt tonight. He just doesn't want to put the hard yards in. When you're on top and have most of the ball you can get away with it. But with games like tonight you cannot carry players like that.

It's an old cliche, but keep the faith folks... I don't think anyone is expecting us to win these games though. Speaking for myself I'm more than aware of the gulf in quality, more than aware of the big picture. I frequently slap my forehead at people going over the top on here but personally I don't think most have in this thread tonight. Let's try to play our game and keep our identity because that's really, really crucial for what we have and once you lose it, it can be very hard to get it back. Of course we'll take some thrashings (that we likely would've got anyway by trying to park the bus) but we can take pride in our approach regardless. Going about things in a fearful, defensive way and losing anyway will grind the belief down and eventually start to affect the crowd which is another big thing we have going for us right now. There was an even bigger gulf in class against Man City last season when we were in the division below but we did OK because we stuck to our principles and could come out of it with our heads held high. Of course there'll always be a few 'we lost 4-0 Wagnner oooutt' numpties but I think that's all most sane fans want to see.

But with games like tonight you cannot carry players like that. but as i said above, he aint that kind of player. you might say he's lazy even, but he got no service. LDP is the kind of player you want playing if you want a bit of physicality up front, but even he gets starved of service. we play way way too deep. the huge gap between our midfield and our lone striker, you could put ronaldo in there and we'd still fail to score many.
