changed my mind. I'd go 4-3-3 as follows; Lössl Kongolo Schindler Zanka Flo Hogg Mooy Williams Pritchard DePoitre Mounié So we've been crying out for a no10 all season, we finally get one and you put him out of position stright away?

Fuck. Lambert is a good motivator. That’s not what we need in for his first game.

What's this guy like? Remember him being a player at Dortmund, but the last I really remember about him was him being Colchester manager in a 7-1 victory for Colchester at Norwich, and then Norwich appointing him pretty much right after that game to duly get promoted in the same season. Has he been involved in any buffoonery since?

Yes, went to Villa and struggled (but didn’t everyone). Then went to Blackburn and was poor, followed by an average spell at Wolves last year. Not clear whether he just made bad choices, a bit like Moyes, or whether he’s lost it.

I'd play with the same formation and system as Spurs did against us.
Three at the back, push the wing backs on, two holding midfielders and then two number 10's in free roles behind the striker. Worked brilliantly. For Spurs Kane ran the channels superbly and there would still be two players running in to the box.
It seems to make sense for us to at least give it a go. So far this season our wide men have been pretty much redundant and they always cut inside anyway. Let the wing backs run the line and get crosses in to either of our big forwards then let the creative players play with more freedom between the lines in the middle of the park. We also have three centre backs now and Hefele as back up and Stankovic nearing a comeback so we're not short of options in that area. Our full backs are also arguably better going forwards then defending so it would free them up slightly.
With this in mind my team for stoke would be...
---------------------- Lossl --------------------
----------Schindler....Zanka....Kongolo----------
Flo -------------------------------------- Malone
------------- Mooy ---------- Hogg --------------
--------- Ince ---------------- Pritchard -------
---------------------- Mounie -------------------
I'd save Depoitre for the games that need his extra energy against Liverpool and United.

Each game gets bigger and bigger for us. Our season effectively ends at game 34 due the horrible run in we have. So we have 11 games to pick up as many points as possible. So you think Arsenal ( especially an Arsenal that are playing for fuck all) will be invincible ? Doubt it And Everton ? I'd write the two away games off, but from the two home games there's two points up for grabs at least.

Paul Lambert is the most overrated manager in English football. Another who got a bit of hype with 1 club, believed it and lived off it. He has done nothing since Norwich.

Serial underachiever in his last three jobs. Go on Heroes and Villains and see what the Villa fans think of him. Hopefully Stoke have just signed their suicide note.

Hopefully they get pummelled tonight and then the fans on Saturday will be showing their displeasure at such an underwhelming appointment.

You know what. I really like that team. The only thing is I think that Hogg and mooy would revert to their normal positions, I think for that to work it would have to have Williams in there with mooy. On paper it looks great, the right sided bias for Ince plays to his favour for cutting in, the only thing is that Pritchard looks a proper 10, in the sense that he actually needs space around him to move into, not sure how much this would restrict his play. Having said that he can apparently play both wings.

We played that system at Arsenal. It actually worked fairly well for 70 minutes and should be stronger with Kongolo in for Crainie.

Having said that he can apparently play both wings. When Spurs played it neither Alli or Erikson really had a side they stayed on. They just seemed to appear in space and both played in between the lines looking to turn and go forward. If we could replicate this then all it needs is time for Ince & Pritchard to develop an understanding and find space wherever the other isn't. The only time they should stick to a position is when we don't have the ball. At that point, wherever they are on the pitch they'd drop into one side to create a 5-4-1 block. When we win the ball it's then imperative that we counter quickly using either the width of the wing backs or through the middle with Ince & Pritchard.

The only reason I'd played one up top with two behind was because chance creation has been our problem so I was trying to get our two most creative players on the pitch to provide for the striker. My worry with two proper number 9's on the pitch would be that we'd struggle to create just like we do now.

Obviously the football was awful but I thought he did alright at Villa just to keep them up before the wheels well and truly came off the season he was sacked. He was given Championship money to spend by Lerner so bought (for the most part, Benteke being a notable exception) Championship quality players. Not much surprise that they eventually ended up in the Championship but I'd say it was far more the owners' doing than his.

PAUL LAMBERT their new manager..... I bet their players are made up by that. He’s a tosser. But I suppose now he’s our tosser so we’ll have to get behind him Seriously looks like a panic appointment ( no bugger else wanted it). Just hope he’s given money to spend before Saturday. Not bothered about tonight that’ll just be our normal 4 or 5 goal caning Thought Saturday we would have been very slight favourites with a decent appointment but now I’d make us underdogs
