PAUL LAMBERT their new manager..... I bet their players are made up by that. He’s a tosser. But I suppose now he’s our tosser so we’ll have to get behind him Seriously looks like a panic appointment ( no bugger else wanted it). Just hope he’s given money to spend before Saturday. Not bothered about tonight that’ll just be our normal 4 or 5 goal caning T hought Saturday we would have been very slight favourites with a decent appointment but now I’d make us underdogsAh the mind games starting already

Looking at the fixture list, we realistically can hope for a maximum of 9 from the next 18 points, by beating Stoke, Bournemouth and WBA. However, that is probably hoping for too much given our away form in general. Perhaps we'll get 5. But it really does put into context how important these games against our relegation rivals have become. It would be fantastic if we could nick something from LPL, MANU or TOT, but highly improbable. Man U is probably our best chance of an upset on current form.
Then into March/April we have a run of huge games including Swans / C Palace / Newcastle and Brighton.

I was looking at the fixture list this morning and it looks like our season can be split into two different categories of games, seven free hits and eight cup finals. The free hits - Liverpool, Man Utd, Spurs, Chelsea, Everton, City, Arsenal. You could argue Everton at home should go under cup finals but in reality their quality (£350m squad) should see them beat us. We might as well have a go at all of them but if we go behind resort to the defensive block and try and stay in the game until later on. Cup finals - Stoke, Bournemouth, WBA, Swansea, Palace, Newcastle, Brighton, Watford. We need to be going all out to try and win all of these games. Fail to pick up points from these games and our fate is likely to be sealed. Squeaky bum time.

When you split it up that like it puts in to context the importance of the 8 games, we may end up needing to average 2 points per game from the 8 cup finals if we remove the 7 free hits. Which is quite frightening. However, as someone previously posted, we may have one more giant killing in us yet.

Hopefully we will get back to geggenpressing on Saturday, like we are supposed to be doing, and not make stupid passes from the keeper.

Wasn't it stoke at home when we had 3 men on the half way line every time they got a corner?? Assume that was so they had to have 4 defenders covering them and couldn't load up our penalty area. Will we have the bottle to do it at their place??

Why is a lot of people rabbiting on about, if, should, could, about points from games, you will give yourselves heart stress.
I do not see the point, enjoy every game and what will be will be, no one can predict the future, in the remaining individual games anything can happen.
Do it the Wagner way and just concentrate on the game ahead.

Find it incredible how all town fans are taking the piss regarding that appointment, imagine if they beat us Saturday... I can definitely see where you're coming from and TBH you shouldn't tempt fate and you should never ever ever take the p*** out of other footbal fans because one-day it will just bite you on the a***. ........but be honest your initial reaction to this news rather than O Neill & Keane or Quique Sanchez Flores or just about ANYONE was "Yes ....Get In ..." Wasn't it?

Hello boys. It’s looking like a real crunch game now. I’m writing off our Monday night at OT Which means it’s an absolute must win for us. Hopefully we’ll at least have a manager in charge but the way we go about things that’s not certain. Looks like your great start to the season as come to an end and the “expected” relegation battle is about to commence and were deep in there with you Should be a great atmosphere. Long time since you were in the potteries hope you enjoy the day but not too much Have a real infinity with Huddersfield , think you’re the same type of football club as us and I’d love us to both stay up but I think it may well be a you or us situation Doubt it’s going to be an enjoyable game for any of us we’ve both spent far too many years away from the top flight to go back to lower level football and I really hope we can both survive We need.thevpoints more than you and I think we’ll just sneak it If we don’t I think we may be doomed. God sometimes I hate football ! Very true Chadders , you need all the luck you can 😉 And we ain't far behind. Although I'm far more confident for us, especially now you have the mighty mr Lambert in charge. See ya Saturday, tell us where best to get a beer 🍺We can drink to premier league football.

TBH I didn't think Moyes and Hodgson were bad appointments. Both have a much more immpressive PL CV than Lambert. Pardew less convinced & not yet convinced he will finish better than Pulis would have done. Neither West Ham or Palace should have been doing as badly as they were. Not sure West Brom (and to a lesser degree Stoke) are that far away from what most would have expected. if wemake a good start it might not be a bad time to play Stoke. Their supporters weren't happy with Hughes and don't seem much happier with Lambert (although on Saturday when they've had the new manager bounce thar sentence may look a bit daft)

Find it incredible how all town fans are taking the piss regarding that appointment, imagine if they beat us Saturday... Its deja vu. There was the same hilarity when palace appointed Hodgson when they were rock bottom without a point. They could finish top half! Lamberts had success and failure in his past, like most managers who've done the job for a while. If he gets it right at stoke, and he could, then they have the squad to comfortably get away from trouble.

Each game gets bigger and bigger for us. Our season effectively ends at game 34 due the horrible run in we have. So we have 11 games to pick up as many points as possible. So you think Arsenal ( especially an Arsenal that are playing for fuck all) will be invincible ? Doubt it Exactly. City will already be champions and preparing for champions league semi-final. We may only need a point or so by then.

Start Pritchard and Terrance. Play like we did at Watford. 3 points there for the taking. Stoke’s defence looked no better tonight than against us last month.

Saturday will see a lot of media attention on the home side, so think we should focus more on how to win this game, as opposed to trying to force Stoke to lose it (if that makes sense...).
I've never given this new Mgr effect much thought as I think it's only that the media grab hold of stories that have an upside after reporting on the demise of that club in the previous months - it's a continuation of their story and sells papers... Look at Pardew at WBA, he's hardly been the one that's kick started their recovery is he?
We'll be OK whatever happens Saturday, but think we could well nick this one... Would be nice to see another Watford but it will probably be a lot tighter...

Honestly as much as I don't rate Lambert, With our away form being utter shite it's possible we could still get turned over. We must surely do everything we can to win this game.

Paddy Power have paid out on Stoke going down after the appointment. Its one of them, if he gets them going they have the squad to stay up.

Wouldn't put too much on the PP thing. They only do things that are in their interests so expect it's a calculated loss and might arguably reduce their exposure if they do eventually go down...
The Bookies don't lose...
Not wanting to change the subject here (maybe we can have a thread in OT), but is anyone at all concerned as to how much betting sponsorship exists in the top 2 divisions nowadays? As a club we're equally guilty signing up to the OPE thing. A real shame for me, much like the tobacco sponsors used to be all over things like snooker & darts...

Who ever DW picks they all need to be at it from the start, cut out the silly mistakes and go for the 3 points. It's a massive game for both teams with defeat unthinkable, let's see what we are made of. Plenty of players will be sweating on team selection after West Ham, I think he will start the 2 new lads and possible Mounie along with Loewe if fit. I'm sure all of us going will get behind the lads and make it a special day. UTT

They've only won one of the last 10 games between us, but given the other fixtures being played this weekend I'd be happy with a point to maintain the current gap versus the bottom 3, and improve our relative position overall. Looking forward to seeing the Mooy-Pritchard axis working, more chances being created and more shots on target.

Ye i am looking forward to the Mooy- pritchard, linking up together, hopefully takes a lot of pressure of Mooy who then can then go more forward.
Think Wagner has brought in Pritchard for this reason, even though Pritchard played the last 15 mins or so Saturday, he was signalling all the time give me the bloody ball

Ireland looked good last night. Him, Allen and Shaqiri are a quality 3 behind Crouch (who will win plenty of long balls).
They are better going forward than at the back. To have a chance we have to press high and get their back line under pressure.
Get on the front foot, get the home crowd on their backs and try stamp some authority on the game.

Michael Oliver in charge at Stoke. Could be seeking revenge for his cock-ups at Watford! Stoke to win then.
