Some of those defenders will have been keep an eye on Mounie making a late run in to the box which he was doing Ask those Swansea defenders whether they would prefer to play that game with just Mounie up front or against both of them and we all know the answer. It makes no sense to not have them on the pitch, they're both goalscorers and something we massively lack elsewhere in the team Like I said, watch the highlights, don't just make it up to suit your opinions! Mounie nowhere to be seen as the cross comes in. What's it look like a few frames on. I'm sure I remember seeing him on MOTD making a sprint for the box Anyway, it's no wonder we have so many games where we fail to score when there are only 2 players in the box in the 93rd minute against 10 men. There should have been 6 or 7 in there including our centre halves trying to win the game

One of those games where we were never going to score. On a side note, I was cringing at the way Swansea celebrated at the end. We’d have celebrated the same if we’d got a point, with ten men, away from home in similar circumstances.

Really ? So if Swansea had had eleven throughout they would have showed the same ambition ? Do me a favour . I’ve now had a look at a few of your posts as you weren’t on my radar .. lots of aggressive stuff about emotional bedwetting . I’m actually a really positive Town fan who is cock a hoop with how it’s gone . I don’t expect to just turn up and win . And I give Swansea massive credit for yesterday . That ok for you ? But if you think there isn’t a correlation between Swansea’s tactics and the number of players on the pitch there is no hope for you .. as I said you aren’t quite as clever as you think you are Come on chippy. You know everything ! I certainly know who spends more time in urinals than is healthy

Actually there were quite a few moments in the second half where Schindy and Zanka stayed up and I was fretting that Swansea we’re going to break out and dick us like Burton did, especially when Abraham was on. I guess I’m not one for reckless gambling until it’s a true shit or bust situation 🙂

Really unlucky not to score today and the first goal could easily have opened the floodgates. Swansea did what they had to do, defend well and hope for a bit of luck. On another day one of Mounié's three efforts,Ince's header, Schindler's header or Malone's chance goes in and we end up winning comfortably. Just unfortunate that today wasn't another day. The trouble is there aren't that many other days left. Every day is another day. Two wins from the eight other days and we'll be fine.

Difficult to argue with a 'nearly did this' and 'almost got it right' argument.. because its not an argument its an excuse.. you make chances to score goals, if you dont score with all that possesion and all those attempts its a failure, if it isnt to you and you dont set your standards higher then fair enough, we are now arguing about what we find acceptable from well paid professional sportsmen.. given swansea didnt attempt to get up the pitch from the 11th minute onwards the possession stats are pretty much null and void and the attempts in relation to the number on target are shitty. Just being honest about my team that missed out on a great opportunity, I dont buy into 'its harder to play 10 than 11', its footballspeak used after a game where a team fail to take advantage, thats all.. It’s nothing to do with my “setting my standards” low, more that I am not prepared to come on here criticise my team for failing to score when they tried their bollocks off for ninety minutes and did everything but score. I agree that it wouldn’t be harder to play against 10 men - as long as those 10 men stuck to their original game plan (with the exception of their missing man of course) and for example their 4-4-2 becomes 4-4-1 However.....if they decide to stick ten men behind the ball with no attacking intent at all then they will be a damn sight harder to play against - as would be a team parking the bus with 11 men and no attacking intent. It’s not the number of players - 10 or 11 - it’s what you do with them. I’m surprised you can’t see that. If you were right - how did we manage to hold out against West Brom for all that time with ten men? How did we hold out for 86 minutes with 11 men behind the ball against Man City? You might like to call it “football speak” but it happens. Swansea managed to hold out against us and we didn’t against City because they got the luck with a spawny rebound goal whereas we hit the bar and the post. Did City resort to throwing an extra big man on after 60 minutes? No, they carried on playing football and they got lucky. We carried on playing our football and got unlucky. You may have think we were shit yesterday but we had twice as many shots on target as Liverpool or Manchester United (or the same number as Liverpool and Manchester United combined if you like) and they were playing against a normal defence, not a ten-man defensive block. And yes, Liverpool scored, but it was another very lucky deflected shot. It seems it might not just be as easy as “throwing the big man on” or “drawing them out” especially when they don’t want to come out, after all. you will have to point out where I ever said we were shit yesterday.. your argument is based on 11 v 10 and the 11 dictating whats happening.. they decided to play a certain way and we went along with it until very close to the end.. If you want the 9 men to come out and us get a little space then you have to force the issue by loading the area they want to 'play in'.. us standing off whilst they dropped in deep was dull from both teams if im honest. We have a very acceptable target man and a 'goalscorer' who in tandem playing that far up the pitch for 80 minutes or so would have enjoyed it immensely.... relying on moving from side to side and playing triangles against a team who had no intention at all of coming out even a bit, to upset that 'triangle' was often quite comical but dull to watch.. pritchard must have run at least half a dozen times deep for the ball before he realised there was nobody behind him, the bloke picking him up already being yellow carded was a giveaway for that.. for that to be an acceptable performance against ten men for 80 minutes and against the most negative side I have ever seen with ten men, their keeper should have had to have a very, very good day, he made one save of note, straight at him.. lets not start bullshitting like other teams, lets tell it really how it was..

I am beginning to wonder if we would have had a better chance beating Swansea had they kept all 11 men on the field.
Sadly the sending off resulted in them parking the bus for what could be a valuable away point come the end of the season , and amazing how many times we pumped the ball into the box only for it to be cleared by their big defenders.
The 80 .84% possession stats are some of the best ever seen in the premier league , and surely town will be in with a big chance of beating Palace if they can apply the same pressure
W brom and Southampton are surely all but down ,then its a case of who will be that 3rd team that will join them.

I sometimes wonder if there are Town fans who post on here that would rather be sat in and amongst crowds of 5k and see the club plying their trade at Div 4 level for the next 30 yrs. Maybe it's because they'd have loads of space to be wrapped up in their warm cloak of misery at every home game & wouldn't have a problem with getting hold of an away ticket...
Let's hop the club have a sustained period in the top 2 divisions, because we've hopefully done our stint in the lower leagues since the early 70's...
This is aimed at all you negative fecking know-it-alls if it isn't obvious...

I think that when Wagner said that anybody who only picked the negatives out of that performance "wasn't on the same page" he was talking about you. If you think it's an unacceptable performance to do everything but score then we'll have to disagree. As for them dictating how we played...I"d be interested to know how you think we played different from our normal game? What I saw was a typical Town performance of passion, pressing, possession, lots of short passing and trying to get overload down the wings. Creating some chances( not enough) and missing them. What did you see?

What I saw was a typical Town performance of passion, pressing, possession, lots of short passing and trying to get overload down the wings. Creating some chances( not enough) and missing them. What did you see? its great to be on the 'same page and thinking as dave'... they dictated the game because they decided exactly how they would play from there on and other than 5 minutes at the death we never offered anything that changed that.. We played to what they are good at defensively.. Our 'game' hates packed defences and the methodical build up helped them out even to the point of us taking 20 passes to then reject the best shooting position in favour of another 2 touches before blathering it into the defender(s).. we never upped the pace, we rarely attempted to put the ball immediately behind them and we kept hold of the ball for long periods whilst creating nothing other than sweat on our brows as they sidled from side to side watching us work harder than them. It was a performance of hope in the tactics rather than any invention.. they wanted to sit on top of their goals and we wanted to sit in front of them and pass them into submission until the goal of a thousand passes was scored.. Given their tactics we could have 'pressed' in their box, we didnt, ball goes in, ball comes out, ball goes sideways a lot, ball goes in, ball comes out.. problem with ball going in was there were rarely in open play enough blue shirts in there.. forget poor crosses, they become great crosses when the attacking side have enough shirts moving and competing for it.. they totally gave us the game to make it however we chose to make it and we played how they wanted us to.. thats what I watched, if you saw a 'dominant and inventive passing team' then fair enough, swansea couldnt give a shit as they let us be both because they didnt fear us playing that game and they were right.. If someone mentions luck and one of those days again they are quite entitled to their opinion...

10 man Celtic came from behind to win at Rangers today. Any comments? Yeah .. you’re a bit dense The last resort of a man who has been proved wrong - a personal insult. you assertion that going down to 10 men dictates tactics. I was merely pointing out that did not apply in yesterday’s old firm fixture, thus blowing your argument out of the water. show some grace and class and admit you are wrong.

Ok I’m wrong you’re right . Swansea going down to 10 men had no impact on the course of the game . A good team with 10 beating a shit team with 11 is further evidence of your point . . I resorted to personal insult , not because I have no clue as to what your point is . But because I realised you are a superior intellectual being . Keep tackling the emotional bedwetters please . Thanks and bye Swansea dictated the game from the 10th minute.. we had all the ball but as long as we continued with the same tactic swansea were still able to dictate.. Unlike Celtic who continued to make the game, Swansea just sat in and they changed the game that way. Celtic being far better than rangers is also different from our game..Rangers also stayed very much in the Derby Mode and didnt help themselves.. we hear every week about 'what about the other teams impact' well you saw it saturday, they impacted on the game from 10 minutes onwards, we continued pretty much playing as we would have tried to against 11. had we had huge posession and chances against 11 playing this way then the comments made by me and others might well have been different, even with a 0-0 result.. watching us try something 'different' for a few minutes at the death is not us 'dictating' a game in which we were 'allowed' to have the ball and the field position..

In 6 games against Carlos the Cock Wagner has failed to win one. He knows just to how play against us, he knows our play is slow and laboured and won't take risks. It's 2 points dropped but due to other results it's a good point. Palace will be a different proposition, they'll come and have a go. A must win game now

As regards Southampton, their morale is surely shot. They won't replace their management team, though they should have done so some time ago. I don't want to see them relegated (WHU much more favourable outcome) as you can tell from my nom de plume, but their will has gone. As I've written before, beware ANY Chinese investment bid for Town.
