Dean Hoyle...’legend’, ‘saviour of the club’, ‘an all-round good guy’... go back 6 months and you’d be hard pressed to find any dissenting voices who’d oppose these views.
Don’t get me wrong, Dean was a great chairman and custodian of the club but events over the past 6 months have been greatly concerning for me and pose the question... will they ruin his legacy? I can’t even believe I’m about to write this and I’ve put it off for so long but something is deeply wrong at the moment and i want to gauge whether I’m alone in my current line of thinking.
We can all point to bad appointments and decisions over his tenure but let’s face it... which chairman hasn’t made bad calls? The reality is that most have. For me, this isn’t what has potentially ruined his legacy. Rather, it’s his seeming desire to recoup every penny he’s previously spent on the club.
Some may say he is entitled to get back every penny he funded the club with; but in my opinion, as a fellow lifelong fan, I don’t understand how he can desire this to the detriment of the club. Does he really need it all back? Is recouping the money really worth the need to install Phil as our new chairman (the only person probably willing to fund Dean out of prospective revenues). The reality why we’ve got Phil as chairman is because he was the only one who could give Dean what he financially wanted; no other backer with ambitions for the club would agree to such a deal.
Ultimately, I want to know everyone else’s thoughts on the matter. Some say giving the club to Phil was an ‘ego’ decision; a desire to remain town’s ‘best ever chairman’. Personally, I don’t think this. However, I do think that Dean’s current financial desires are in huge danger of ruining the prospective fortunes of our club. UTT

To recoup his 50 million loan He's entitled to his money back given what he achieved with the club. I know he’s entitled; I didn’t say he wasn’t. But after everything that’s been achieved over the past 10 years, the way the stewardship has been passed on with the burden of the club needing to repay such a large sum will severely hinder the club in the decade to come and put us back to a Davy styled era. I can’t think of any other chairman who is a ‘genuine fan’ that has recalled the ‘entire’ sum of what he’s put in. I’m more than willing for someone more informed than me to change my way of thinking; or present me with something positive to cling onto. Something perhaps which is part of a greater plan for our club that I’m currently not seeing

IMO hes perfectly entitled to get the club to repay him all the money he has put into the club over the past 10 years. Normally the club wouldn;t be able to afford to do that, but because of the success his support lead to, it actually can.
Don't think that effects his legacy at all ( his legacy is the amazing history he created, the return of the KSDL shares, the training facilities we now use, the massive increase in squad value, the massive growth in attendances etc ). *IF* that is what is happening ( personally think it could be ) then I don;t feel I have the right to moan about it.. the club paying him back some or all its debt to him doesn;t seem unfair to me.
However its been financially carried out, he saw Phil as the best person to take control of the club. Probably sees Phil as very much in his own image.. a successful businessman and a life long fan of the club. Someone passionate about HTFC. If he sees Phil as the best option, then thats good enough for me, because I know dean Hoyle LOVES this football club.
Basically to me, Dean Hoyle can do as he sees fit because truth is ,but for Dean Hoyle, we'd have spent the last decade in L1 and L2 playing in front of 5000 fans and still not have an asset or a pot to piss in to our name.

To recoup his 50 million loan Oh right.. Is that what he's done ? If so do you think this would be a wrong thing to do ? Of course he is entitled to this - I don’t think anyone would argue against this. His legacy is much much wider than football - though the field his legacy has been tainted since Stuart Webber left with poor football decisions leading to our demise Back to the first point - legacy much wider than football However, I would like to understand why this deal was the best for the football club / have questions for Hoyle on the sale process / future of the club How many parties were approached How many parties put indicative offers in How many of those parties were taken through to undertake due diligence / given the same level of access as Hodgkinson Was Hodgkinson’s offer the highest offer for the football club What is the reason for the debenture security you have taken out (the answer obvious but I’d still ask!) Was Hodgkinson approached in the sale process or outside of this - if the latter why Other questions Do you know which of the Pure businesses are ‘very profitable and very successful’ as Hodgkinson has explained to the fans. Companies House suggests this isn’t Pure Legal Limited or Pure Business Group Limited Would you invest in a Pure Business?

One man changed it all and I couldn't be prouder to support the greatest club in the world, a club that never gives in and rises from the ashes time and time again. But if PH answered most forgive me i’ll be glad for you to fill me in on the answers to a few - but to be clear the above aren’t questions for a buyer to answer, they are for Hoyle as Director of the football club and owner In fact just answer 1 will do which isn’t related to the sale ‘Which of the Pure businesses are ‘very profitable and very successful’ as Hodgkinson has explained to the fans. Companies House suggests this isn’t Pure Legal Limited or Pure Business Group Limited?’ (Based on latest financial info) A very simple question to comments he made to HTTV - Presumably a very quick and simple answer

Lots of people happy to throw lots of things about on the internet but when it came to it everyone stayed at home . I'm not an apologist for PH . But he is our chairman , he was chosen by DH when we had other suitors, he is clearly a town fan. So for now I'm happy to let him get on with it

No way are we heading back to square 1 woody. Ok, the teams struggling a bit and the manager's not exactly covering himself with glory, but the bigger picture is this is now a completely different club to the one DH took on. Dean chose Phil for a reason, and however its been done, I think the fans can trust that the clubs best interests were at the heart of it.

woodterrier 29. You are very brave to raise these points. I am very surprised with the response so far. I think your points are valid. However because we as fans are not put in the picture, we will never get any answers to any questions that might upset the applecart even more. I only wish we did, as all the Town fans I know, are a good knowledgeable lot, plus would accept the truth. Whatever that may be. Good luck. TTID

Seems to me most peoples beef with PH is that they cant google "Phil Hodgkinson net worth" and get an answer they like the look of. You can't Google Phil Hodgkinson and get any idea as to his worth. That in itself is worrying. Plenty of rumours going around at the weekend as to his financial situation but I find those rumours hard to believe as I can't see that Dean would have handed to club over to someone in that position
