I watched Charlton vs Preston yesterday, neither side looked any better than us. We should not fear them.If that is the standard for top spot it's a bit poor.

Preston have the best home record in the league, so it's going to be a very tough assignment, but we couldn't be going there in better spirit. Hogg suspension is a massive blow, despite his less than convincing performances up until the last two/three games. Who can come in and do his job?

I'd take a point now. Preston are solid at home. They haven't lost at home in the league since April. So they're due for a defeat then? Yes I hope so.

Not sure what the Cowleys will do. It’s another away game so I’d expect similar tactics to Brentford with the priority being to keep it tight, meaning it might not be the game to bring Pritchard back. Maybe Stankovic is due his chance?

Mixed feelings for this one. Confident the Cowleys do their homework correctly and always fancy our chances away from home now. Preston will lose at home at some point, why not this Saturday? We are playing with more confidence on and off the ball with each game and everyone is doing their part. Would like to see stank in for Hoggs absence as he is more calm on the ball in my opinion than Chalobah.

Their top scorer Johnson went off very early at the weekend so hopefully he’s not around at the weekend.

No, 10th Nov 1969 was 3-1 to Town. A brace from big Frank and one from Jimmy Lawson. We were top back then. I went to that one. Remember it because the bus windows were put through. It was cold returning home. I’d like to think it was a night match, but that might be the Four Yorkshireman in me. Definitely drafty. I think Lawson made one for Frank and Frank made Jimmy’s. It was a night match, day before my birthday, my Dad left the newspaper open on the sofa for when I cam down for breakfast, my Mum said: "There's your birthday present". Saturday will be one day off excatly 50 years since we've won there.

Pearson suspended for them and Daniel Johnson doubtful. The latter been out would enhance our chances of getting something from the game.

Get a result here and I feel we might be aiming for a top 8-6 finish. Nothing to fear like Brentford. The cowleys have got me feeling excited again.

preston got about 18,000 for their L666s game, but now they're top surely this could be a full house..23,000 ? Not sure how many tickets we have but this could be a right game...good old northern, Lancs v Yorks, working class derby game... i'm sure the Cowleys will look to stifle them, and it could be a bit rough too...yellow and red cards I expect... Can we hold out, be disciplined ? that win at Brentford, and the performance is ideal for the players confidence..they know now they can do a job..and win. Preston maybe technically and skillfully better than our transitioning team, but can they match our workrate ? From what I saw of them on TV at Charlton, they are pretty savvy, and very fit... if we can put in another good performance without errors at the back, I'll be happy.

There was also a 3-3 draw with us scoring two in the last couple of minutes in the late 80s. My first visit there. We were dead and buried at 3-1 down with a couple of minutes left.

My first trip to Preston was in the early seventies. As a naive 13/14 year old, in a group of also naive 13/14 year olds. We thought it would be a good idea to go in the Preston end, it wasn't..

My favourite match I attended at Deepdale was the 1987 freight rover /simod semi final in the Burnley end. Sell out crowd. Burnley (who were in the 4th division and the previous year had avoided the conference on the last day of the season) nicked it and the crowd went absolutely mental. They played wolves in the final I think the crowd was about 80k

Yeah I was at uni with a Burnley boy. This match was MASSIVE for them. It was probably about 3 quid for a ticket and I got a free lift. I remember we got there late and the surrounding roads were rammed. We tried to sneak the car into the church car park right across the road.. The reverend came out and said "sorry boys you can't park there".. The driver said " but vicar... We are from. Burnley".. The reverend winked and waved us on.

I think it's only time I've supported another club at a football match ( good thread topic?). Because neither club had done fuck all for years and they hated each other the atmosphere was fucking mad

Think this will be a hard fought draw. Should be a cracking atmosphere and another tactical masterclass from the cowley brothers.

I have, for no reason that I can logically think of, a significant dislike of PNE. I think it may be because they really don’t like us very much for no particular reason. We always tend to struggle against them. For the poster who questioned whether it may be a 23000 sellout, their support (for a reasonable sized town and considering how well they are doing) is absolutely shite. Not sure why - similar sized club to us, similar sized ground, similar kind of history but nothing like the level of support we got in our excellent season 2016/17.
