Rebecca Welch likes this post… Just seen this post. I am in no way defending last Saturday but I just wonder how much of an impact it had on the players. I was deflated so I’m sure the players would be as well. Just how I felt. Expected to be full of adrenaline when I took my seat but instead I felt flat from the 1st minute of the game.

....which also shows the mental weakness and lack of professionalism in the squad - they are paid professionals, not fans; yes they should be deflated after the game but there job is to perform on the grass and keep going. Which they did not do (at least for the full 90 mins.........)
They have two chances left to prove themselves.....

Nerves I guess and no real faith that the team would do what it needed to. Having said that I'm sure we'd have snapped out of it had they scored and started to play.

4points COULD do it. We don't even HAVE to win v Brum. Don't we? you see us spawning a draw v Brum and spanking Ipswich? NURSE NURSE Thats not what I would expect to happen at all...I EXPECT its most likely we will lose both remaining games.. I was just stating the fact that 4 points from the last two games COULD be enough for us to stay in this division.

Best way I can describe that, is that results have to favour Town in 5 remaining games. The 2 games for Wed. Us and Brum games on the last day. But starting with Us v Brum this weekend…

Hull are key to us having any chance.
We have to beat Brum. Thats a given now.
We have to hope Hull beat Coventry so as to keep Pressure up on Norwich who finish at Brum. We also need Hull to beat Ipswich to mean they can’t get autos by the time they play us and are either deflated or saving themselves for the playoffs. We maybe sneak a 0-0 and survive on the final day. But god its desperate.

So would switch to Coventry being key in that case. Not that it matters anyhow. Can't see us beating Brum to be honest.....!!!

1/9 Bookies not messing about. The bookies had us as 2nd/3rd most likely to drop ages ago even before we dropped into the bottom 3. They always tend to know (they got stung by Warnock last season but it's rare).

I'm not spending time and effort worrying about it, to be honest. I've made my midweek peace with it, and if a miracle were to occur, then wonderful. If it didn't then I'm at peace with League One football.
My only wish is for us to win on Saturday and really leave Birmingham in it. We might be going down, but I want to drag them down with us. Then whatever happens at Ipswich happens. A win for us, a Sheffield Wednesday defeat, a Plymouth defeat, and it'll be all to play for on the last day with Wednesday at a switched-off Sunderland and Plymouth hosting Hull. Birmingham, as we know, face Norwich who may not be assured of the play-offs.

It's complicated enough working out the implications of Norwich beating Swansea on Saturday (never mind the rest of the relegation-threatened teams), because I think if they do they will have practically made the play-offs, and we all know it would be highly probable that Wagner would field a weakened side against Brum on the last day (probably somewhat reluctantly if he knows that by doing so he'd be increasing Brum's chances of staying up at our expense IF we beat Brum on Saturday). Strange then how Birmingham profited from a weakened Wagner team in 2017, and might just again 7 years later! Just hope that Swansea get something out of Norwich, and another ex-Town manager does us a favour at Sheffield Weds - but that won't matter if we don't beat Birmingham. For now, I'll just be happy to see it going to the last day. Edit: And then there's still a chance at least we'll beat Ipswich if they've been partying too much or are too dejected after failing to go up directly. That's why I think I'd prefer a Cov win tonight as they will still be interested in beating Ipswich in a week's time, which would possibly be good for us. Edit II: So complicated, it's probably not worth thinking about it!

Hull, just seen that they have to play Ipswich as well. Basically, I think whoever wins between Hull and Cov tonight, we'd be taking an interest in whether they go on to challenge Norwich for a play-off spot. Worst result would be a draw....I think

Which could be exactly what Town need to help us get a point or 3 next weekend. Hull meanwhile might yet force Norwich to fight like dogs for that 6th spot- again perfect for Town. It could yet work out for us and we could spawn our way out of it with 2 wins. Get past Brum 1-0 ugly then take it to Ipswich and take a rogue 2-0 victory to consign Brum and massive to the drop. Huge motivation for our lads for Saturday.

Ipswich beat Hull tomorrow. Ipswich beat Cov on Tuesday. Equals an Ipswich promotion and a few days on the piss for them before our game...

The only downside to this is Ipswich could win the title on the last day as they would be on 95 points with Leicester (if they win this weekend) on 97. So they would still have something to play for.

It’s bizarre the amount of permutations remaining at both ends of the table. It feels odd, but maybe it’s normal?
I’d have to check my logic, but I think there’s still the chance that if we win up, or Brum win up, both of us could still be relegated. (I appreciate only one of us can, but if that were Brum they can still go down on 52 points)
It all feels a bit mad, and a bit sad TBH. We are here on merit unfortunately… (& a fickle mindset)

I’d say a much more likely scenario is Ipswich only get 1 point from their 2 very difficult away games therefore nailed on 3rd when we play them.

Perfect permutation
Leeds win tonight - go to 93 points
Leeds 45 games - 93 Ipswich 43 games - 89
Ipswich lose to Hull and Cov.
Both 45 games, Leeds 4 ahead.
If Ipswich were to even draw 1. The GD is in Leeds favour by a lot.

If you add to that both WBA & Norwich win in the afternoon, then by the time Hull (v Ipswich) kick off @8pm their play off chance will be over......Coventry too, so Tractor boys will be 180 mins from PL & an ex Town manager to dump Lids out of play offs (Town will still F-Up).

We could yet escape with a solitary win against Brum.
The massive have a truly massive game against West Brom who with to Hull breathing down their necks for 6th, we hope Carlos can get us one of those 1-2 or 0-1 away victories he was so good at.
The only problem there is you fancy they will better out Ipswich result at Sunderland with nothing to play for. But wendies are dreadful esxpsilly away so we could all lose on the final day and we could stay up on tops difference.
