I wonder if Town have approached Sam Allardyce to ask for his opinions on his former reserve team gaffer, Lee Clarke?
Maybe this is where the Big Sam rumours came from?

Very interesting. Strongest hint yet I think. possibly, but please bear in mind that these are all the same rumour (see walsalls post yesterday morning) that are being picked up and recycled by different sites. not saying i know anything one way or the other, just urging caution in accepting these stories as fact.

...or maybe we're going for Allardyce with Clarke as his assistant? Wishful thinking.....?

I got a text this morning, saying Big Sam had bought a house in Stocks Moor and is to be unveiled as the manager this afternoon... Bearing in mind this guy sent a similar text regarding Alan Shearer before the summer, so I think I know how much truth there is in this rumour...

There's no truth in it. Next Town manager is Nigel Adkins.

Lee Clark, this must be some sort of joke. What credentials does this unpleasant, inarticulate geordie have that couldn't be bettered by several dozen other possible candidates? The current caretaking duo would be preferable for a start.

young as well and to play for Newcastle you have to be passionate Passionate? Bramble? Viduka? Kluivert? Boumsong? The Geordie fans might be passionate but not sure about them lot above. I don't think Clark is the right man for the job. He never seemed like a very intelligent player and although he's only the assistant there, Norwich are a very poor side at the moment.

All of those links refer to the same, single, story. They aren’t rumours, there is one rumour being repeated.
People are putting far too much credence into the incestuous pile of poo that is the British media.

i just think it shows a lack of ambition to appoint a man who is assistant at a fairly poor side, it seems like the cheap option again, and im fed up with it, from the list of names being touted I just cant see how he would be the best candidate.
Most who come on here will know my feelings about the sacking of ternent and how i feel he was right about changing the club, and I think deano should have had the balls to back him rather than be influenced by murphy's pro acadamy stance.

sorry but just cant agree with backing Turnip, the club has to have some principles and cant allow anyone (not just turnip ) to bully and intimidate young or old players and carry on the way he did. Secondly , he totally split the players with his arrogant ways, he also had crap tactics and we played long ball even though he sadi he didnt like it. The club has got to have some morals and rules.

It's true that there's something very wrong within the club at the moment but hopefully once Hoyle takes over the reigns completely that will be the turning point. We've had a succession of managers unable to turn things round so it's not just the playing side that is wrong but Stan clearly wasn't the answer as he just seemed to make things worse. Unfortunately we never hear the full story behind these things so we're all just left to speculate but if things don't start to turn around fom next season then we all might as well chuck the towel in!

But they're all referenced from the same one sentence "story" in the Mirror. None of those add any credence whatsoever to the likelihood of Clark becoming manager.

The current caretaking duo would be preferable for a start. Highly regarded as a coach at Newcastle and Norwich. Worth a punt. Highly regarded at two very underachieving clubs? Roeder is a terrible, terrible manager, so if Clark has learnt anything from him I'd hope he stays well away from our club. And from what I hear about the Newcastle academy, I could get a job there with my CV of Football Manager achievements. In the last 10 years the best they've produced is Shola Ameobi... I'd probably say our Academy was better than theirs, and that's not a compliment to our academy. No thanks to Lee Clark. Happily, this all stems from one rumour in the mirror, catching wind on a currently uneventful forum.
