Sad news But the memories of him and the great team he created will last forever in the memories of those lucky enough to have been around at the time. RIP Ian

He brought the best days of my life to this football club. Wonderful, wonderful memories. If the club does not do something before the match today I will be very disappointed.

RIP
My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.
Hopefully something will be done at the game today to mark his passing.
I am a bit of a traditionalist so would prefer a minutes silence to applause and agree as mentioned already that black arm bands should be worn.

Does anyone know whether the club is aware of it? Is there someone we can contact to make sure they are?

I've sent off an email to Ann Hough and Sean Jarvis. Hope the email addresses on the official site are the correct ones for them.

Spoke to club, its been confirmed to the club secretary.... hopefully something will be said at the match.
My thoughts are with his family. Was just watching the final whistle video other day when hes outside the old ground with town players in his sheepskin coat.

What's the video they've been showing on the big screen this season. There's a fair bit of him and his team on there. Can you buy it or is it just to play in the ground? If Sean Jarvis is looking for ways to make cash it might be a good time to put together a dvd of Greaves' promotion-winning team. I'd buy it for the memories and there must be a lot of others like me who would too.

That video shown pre-match is highlights of Towns seasons in our 100 years or so. Starting with FA Cup win etc. If they could get hold of most of the footage from that 1969/70 season it would be amazing and i'd buy it for the memories. I'm only 23 but mi father remembers it fondly as a youngster then.

Can you buy that one Tezza? I don't believe you can buy the 5 mins vid that they show as a highlights package of our 100 years or so. There are a fair few vis knocking around on YouTube though... IGNORE THE STAN AND RONNIE BIT AT T'END.

Started watching Town in the 69/70 season. Great memories, even though I was only 8. Anybody else remember the day we one the championship at Blackburn, or the pitch invasion after Watford at home. RIP Ian.

I do remember the win at Blackburn(we knew we would win) and the "party time" when we thrashed Watford.
I also remember Ian`s Lancashire accent.
Sad news indeed.

Sad news indeed. God bless, Ian, thanks for the memories.
Like Klever Boy, he was my first Town manager and what a team that was.
Also, remember Ian and his wife lived in Fixby and I used to do my "Bob-a-Job" as a Cub Scout around there and used to call at their bungalow to do jobs. His wife was a lovely person, however I never got to meet the great man himself.
I hope Town have an appropriate tribute today for Ian.

Before my time, but a true town legend.
Great video Duncan, can only dream about how good it must have been for those of you who saw us get promoted into the top flight. Hopefully we'll see it again in my lifetime!
