Dint Nat Brown start out as a striker?
Seems a strange one now but Scott Macdonald has got to be up there for me, although he was playing in a shocking side.

1) Paul Macari 2) Paul Macari 3) Paul Macari 4) Lee Ainsworth 5) Kevin Gallacher and Kevin Gallan (considering the performance in relation to wage) 6) Chris Hay 7) Chris Senior 8) Zico 9) Gianfranco Labarthe 10) Alex Dyer (i think he was called Alex...but there is no no doubting he really was Dyer).

Alex Dyer definitely.
I thought Kevin Kyle was toilet when we had him on loan.

Gallen wasn't all that bad, think people just expected more from him than he was ever going to deliver. Scored a few crucial goals.
Macari and Senior never played for the first team so surely they can't count?
Chris Hay for me every time. He tried but was just never going to get a goal for about 3 years!

Macari did play and so did Senior. I remember both; Senior played against Halifax in some LDV vans match and was trully awful without being harsh to the lad. Macari played a few times of sub and never looked like a footballer; in fact he seemed to follow his dad from club to club and after Lou went out of football, he went straight to the non leagues.

Even though I don't get to see many games, I'm still getting my two pennorth in - not Lawson, because I actually saw him score a great goal once (diving header). Has to be Newby. For some reason, my memory tells me that we only had absolutely brilliant world-beating strikers when I was a kid. Funny how that works innit?
... and by the way, one time I saw Nat Brown playing up front, and he had quite a good game. Was it his only one ?
McAliskey might be the most stupid ever.

Alex Dyer.
My GGGGGODDDDDDD, he was terrible. It was actually quite embarassing watching him play. I remember watching him at the Manor Ground (Oxford United), making his dubut, and thinking 'what the hell has Horton signed?'. In fairness to Dyer, he should never have played for Town and was only bought out of sheer panic and as a last resort by Horton, who was to be sacked the following month due to a poor start to the season (but, I'm sure primerily down to making this signing!)
I'm depressed thinking about that start to the season, so I NEED to remind everyone of the first away win of that season (97/98). Manchester City 0 - 1 Town. Rob Edwards scoring a blinding goal after quite litterally one million passes and 47mins of team possesion. Well, it felt like that anyway. Certainly, one of the goals (league) that sticks out in my mind the most. And what support we had. Bottom of the league and what a great performance.
I'm happy now, sorry for hijacking the thread!

Macari or Whittington for me - probably Whittington because his off the field activities got the club bad publicity as well.

Alex Dyer was the worst for me. Jon Newby ran him a close second. Chris Hay comes in 3rd. Lets hope these 3 are the ones we are bidding for
