Don't know what people think but personally would like to see the away fans be placed in the open end of the direct golf stand and then make the pink link stand only available for town fans. Surely by doing this we could go someway to getting back to the 'Cow Shed' days. Then next season make the upper tier of the direct gold available for away fans should their support be strong enough.

I've always thought it would be better to put away fans in the DG Lower. Despite the stadium safety certificate stating that away fans must be housed in the Pink Link I don't see why they can't be put into the DG Lower(and upper if a large following). They can easily be segregated and the rampway up the hill can be secluded and give fans a way back to the cars and coaches without the WYP being too harrassed.

Exactly or would a possible alternative be parking the buses directly outside near the cash points or even round the corner behind the gym.

Doesn't the current Safety Officer retire at the end of this season?
Maybe the replacement will be willing to look at other options.
As for keeping fans segregated, look at Leicester - No seats covered up, just a row of plod and stewards, and when you leave the ground you mingle straight in with the home support anyway.
Personally, I believe Dean will do his damndest to get the pink link stand as a home stand. The atmosphere in the ground benefits such a lot - I know I'll buy my season ticket in there if I have the chance

I had to a laugh at that , as for our away game we have to have loads of seats covered up even though there is a bleeding massive gap in between the stands. this never happened when we were in the Championship - why has this been allowed to happen? What is the precedence for this? There has only been one majorish incident that has happened in the ground and that was due to the OTTness of the cops (Derby 5th round FA cup) For the big games were I guesstimate we are losing a potential of 500*20 quid = 10k!!!

Fair comment although obviously if this happened it could be a permanent arrangement and not for the odd game. It would surely generate a far better atmosphere than we have at present when not behind the goals?

When Stevie Gerrard blasted that goal in yesterday in front of the kop, look how much better it looks. Our players are shooting at either away fans or empty seats.
Every little helps, and home fans behind the goal has got to be a major consideration for Deano.

Refresh my memory T_A, what happened that day? I've had many sleeps since then! It kicked off in LB lower by the away fans. I'm not sure on the exact details ( i sat then in Kilner by North Stand) but you could see it kicking off. Think it happened in the 2nd half when we were 2-1 down.. Most people that were there or saw it closer blamed it on the the over zealousness of the cops! I'm sure somebody else can elaborate

Refresh my memory T_A, what happened that day? I've had many sleeps since then! Basically... Fans on both sides were getting rather "animated" and as you know, W.Y.P don't like to see football fans singing, gesturing and generally having a good time whilst creating a cracking atmosphere. After a while the Plod decided to remove lots of fans from both sides for having too much banter. They escorted both groups out of the ground and quickly returned to make sure nothing else happened inside the stadium. Unfortunately bot sets of ejected fans were left alone, within yards of each other outside the ground - cue scene from "The Football Factory".

I've always thought it would be better to put away fans in the DG Lower. There is also the issue of the corporate boxes above that area. Apparantly 10 can sit outside in front of each box and they would not want to be a few feet above the away supporters

Same with the FM stand and also the same with the Antich as the disabled stand would be where away fans are seated. We're screwed!!!! My other idea though was that of converting the FM lower into a standing area and putting a perspex see through roof over the top to keep the sound in and the rain off. Probably a bit ambitious mind...

Lower tier of FM stand would be ok though, there's a high wall behind it plus about a six foot gap behind the temporary stand, you'd still have issues about supporters mixing at half time/full time etc though.

I still don't see why you can't use the FM lower, then. The lack of a roof can't be a serious problem. Anything else would involve loads of people having to move out of their regular seats.

Always thought it was a waste of time having an elaborate 2-tier stand behind the goal that can accommodate a stage for all these concerts we keep having. IMO the stadium designers should have mirrored the south stand and we wouldn't be having this debate as fans would happily go in the FM stand if it were single tier.

Ey all the best musicians dream of playing the Galph! Its more big timethan Madison Square Garden Oh and which is the Direct Gold stand? Also rambo, I considered asking making an equally annoying comment such as "when did Town get a 5th stand?" but you'd beaten me to it.

I don't get the argument about not having the away fans near corporate boxes. A lot of premiership and championship clubs house away fans directly in the proximity of corporate boxes. In the FM media stand lower tier (the seats have a big gap between them and the corporate boxes). It seems to me that we have a real jobsworth for a safety officer and I wish he'd retire tomorrow. For too long we have suffered from a lack of atmosphere, which to me is part of football. I would feel less inclined to buy a season ticket next season if I couldn't get the opportunity to sit in the south stand. If I could be guaranteed a seat in the south stand I would be willing to pay good money for a season ticket.

Doesn't the current Safety Officer retire at the end of this season? Maybe the replacement will be willing to look at other options. That's what Deano said when had the chance to speak to him before Christmas. Said that the current lad is retiring after a hefty stint at the helm, and didn't want a black mark on his record, so to speak. I think the fact that Deano thought the match against Swindon had the best atmosphere since the Cowshed Days due to fans in the South Stand, and mentioned so on the O/S, he himself may be looking into the possibility of the Pink Link used for the vocal home fans

Only one option for me and that is to give the away team as much (within reason) or as little as they need from the Antich. So basically, the current singing section would become the away end, the top car park would be isolated for away supporters and their coaches, the disables facilites can cater for them and us (like most top grounds) and the underneath can be segregated accordingly.
I think it is the only option however, what would be the effect of 2000 town fans in the upper behind the goal, what a?

God I wish people would stop harping on about the Pink Link stand and fans in there. The plod aren't going to allow it on a regular basis and no matter who tries what that is the final word. We may get the odd game here and there but that is going to be it. I was at the last home game and I think the noise being generated from the Pink Link stand has been over egged - it was ok but nothing special. Simple fact is Town fans don't sing - none of this balls about sound drifting out the sides etc we just don't sing. We could make a home end at the FM lower tier easily, but people are too picky (too cold, too exposed etc etc). God help some of these people if they had to support Town back in the day of uncovered terraces.

FM lower (and even upper) is basically the family stand so you'd struggle to make that work-been in the south stand for each of the games we've been able to go in,and with each game the noise/atmosphere has improved-to say its ok but nothing special is quite harsh IMO,been a helluva lot more atmosphere in there than there would have been had we all been in our normal seats

Put the Away fans in the FM Lower or even half the Antich or so towards the South Stand. I aint moving from the DG Lower.
