I've been sat in the so called 'singing section' for about 14 years now and this phenomenon of standing up for as long as you can has only been happening for the last 2 seasons!! I'm not actually sure whether fans really want to stand or not or whether it's just a game when the stewards arrive!!?? If so what's the point!!!?? Not a particular fan of the stewards, and if you know some jobsworth is gonna use their 'powers' whenever they see fit then why give them the opportunity!?

The fat blonde lad i saw getting frogmarched out of the singing section was the same prat ,who along with his equally stupid mates were chanting and screaming every kind of swear word their tiny brains could remember at the Rochdale friendly a couple of years ago, even though they were sat in a section almost entirely full of little kids, families and oaps. Classless prick with his classles prick mates who spoilt it for loads of Town fans that day. The only thing I thought was 'Good, throw the dickhead out"

You'd moan like fuck if you'd paid for a seat on a train and had to stand up for nearly 2 hours.
Sit down, it's not rocket science, it's actually quite easy.

I sit in the "singing section" & I stand as much as I can. I stand because I want to stand.
I HATE having to sit down at Football. It just doesn't feel right. It's just not normal to sit down & watch Footie to me. Plus, as soon as everyone sits down the atmosphere just drops.
Getting people to sit down is just yet another example of the nanny state we live in these days, when your told what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. Football is getting more & more middle class by the season, seems you cant even have a laugh anymore which is what going to Football is all about.
Oh how I wish I was born 20 years earlier. Modern Football is shite.

When you say "I always sit on the top of my seat" do you mean you sit on the top of the back of the seat with your feet on the seat? If you do, i'm not surprised you got chucked out, and after being told not to and continuing, I can't believe anyone thinks you shouldn't have. no not on the top of the back on my seat with my feet on the seat i sit on my seat just when its in an upright position

Its funny how its the same people who always have the run ins with stewards isnt it? I sit in the singing section(right on the very right hand side of it) and have never had one single word from a steward for 10 years and I stand for a fair bit of the game. Some people deliberately do all they can to antagonise them and start an argument. I saw the OP screaming abuse at someone during the game(steward/other fan). It was that loud a few hundred of us looked over from watching the game to see what the commotion was all about.
Id be careful about makin complaints as if they have evidence of you abusing them on CCTV you are gonna look pretty stupid and it may lead to a more permanent ban.

There's a reason that football stadia became all-seater - and it's a fucking good reason. you'd be surprised at how many stadiums have standing areas in this country and encounter no problems with it-try going to germany, where by all accounts you can stand for the whole game in a standing area, drinking beer, watching the game,no hassle from stewards, and no dangerous situations occurring

Do you blame the thugs in the 70's-80's who ultimately caused fences to be put up by law? i think there's a place for both seating and standing as there was for many many years before the Taylor report. Remember that with the exception of the Ibrox incident, the Wembley FA cup final, Scots Cup final and RL finals etc. all attracted much bigger standing crowds than HB and went off without incident. I've only ever been to Wembley for the Challenge cup once and the biggest risk was making sure no-one pi**ed on you... it was that jam packed you couldn't move. For those that haven't experienced standing (as the norm), then you've missed out. If they had 100k at Wembley nowadays with 50-60k of them standing, people would sh*t their pants... It's not just down to the PC brigade, it's also the fact that they've taken away any trust in the supporters to use common sense as they have done for the last 100 yrs.

No, I wouldn't be surprised at your claims. And, quite frankly, I don't care about them either. Your statements bare very little relevance to my view and are backed only by spurious assumptions. The bottom line is that if those attending football chose to abide by the safety requirements of the stadium in question then no one would have a problem. Using a game of football as an excuse to start acting in an antisocial manner is not big and is not clever. Fucking grow up and show some respect for others.

If so, it just helps to further prove CaptainSlapper's point really! Judging from some of the descriptions people have given of your behaviour at the game, you probably deserved to be chucked out. It's a shame that standing for 90 minutes is no longer allowed, but if you're repeatedly asked to sit and refuse to ... combined with swearing ... what do you expect?

There's a reason that football stadia became all-seater - and it's a fucking good reason. So, ONE disaster in England warrants every single stadium to be all seater? I think you'll also find that the people got crushed becuase of the fences at the front, rather from being stood up. If that stand hadn't have had the fences at the front people would have been able to get on ths pitch & wouldn't have been crushed. Also, German fans are allowed to stand, I dont see or hear anyone dying over there on a regualr basis. Hell, you can even have a beer in the stand, bounce round like an idiot all game & stand holding a flare for 90 mins without anyone even looking twice at you. If they can do it over there, why cant we do it over here?
