Well I reckon he's the first central midfielder to score 10 since Chris Beech in 99/00. A fantastic effort, especially as he didn't have one when Ternent was sacked in November.
There's more to come from this lad. He's going to be a star.

Fair play for the 10 goals, he is very cool in front of goal but he will never be much more than an average championship player at best

Potential Rolls Royce player - he sounds so humble when he is interviewed and just needs more and more confidence to boost him. He bursts onto the ball like no Town player I have seen. A Brian Stanton for the next magnificence era?

He's starting to win me over.
You only have to look at the way he sticks his goals away, to see that he is a good footballer. With a better quality partner in the middle, than the average ones he's been used to, he could do really well. And that's from someone who has called him Mr Invisible for most of the year.
I suspect Collins will continue to divide opinions for some time yet.

He is another though that cant really see or play that killer pass and often gets caught in possession...pretty much all our team suffer from this problem

I have had my issues with Collins all season but I'm not going to judge him till we have a quick man upfront. He potentially could do real damage then

I absolutely love Collins would say hes there in my top 3 Town players BUT I have noticed he plays so much better alongside another attacking midfielder, the workup for the goal again today was magnificent and he plays and runs onto balls so smoothly. I think there was another 2 moves today with Collins that could have ended up being a goal if he received the ball back his movement is unreal and he can beat a man for fun but as some say nd its so so true some games he goes completely missing (then again if he didn't have these games and played amazing every single week for 90 minutes he would be playing in a higher division).

Agree a fantastic effort after missing 1/3 season. A very intelligent player, great movement, and technically very good. Anyone know how many assists he has ?

Haha maybe I should read before posting - I'm blaming it on the booze and emotion of Boothy's last game at the Galph! Has Schofield scored 10 goals in a season though!?

Remember Schofield sometime filled in as a forward on occasion as Roberts did, I thought we would miss Schofield majorly but Roberts is more than a worthy replacement.

Can't half finish when he is 1 on 1 though Collins. Saw his coolness against Peterborough at home this season and saw it again today. I knew he would put it away as soon as he was let through.

Remember Schofield sometime filled in as a forward on occasion as Roberts did, I thought we would miss Schofield majorly but Roberts is more than a worthy replacement. I'm far from100% convinced. ....especcially given the fact with a £250k transfer fee and (I'm sure) a much higher salary he should be a much better player than Schofield. The new Garry Barnett. Earlier in the season his industry made him look a good player in a sh8*te team, when we improved he didn't stand out at all and since Xmas (when his effort has appeared to drop) he's looked poor the majority of the time. Re Micky Collins he is exceptionally good at parts of his game (bursting from midfield and finishing), however (as illustrated by the constant debate on this board about his ability (and again like Chris Beech)) other parts of his game are nowhere near this standard. This makes building a midfield difficult and I sometimes question whether in Division 1 we can afford the luxery of MC + 2 wingers. What is surely clear however is that Goodwin + Collins +2 wingers are not a promotion winning midfield.

"bursting and finishing from midfield"
You are absolutely right- - --that is his forte. He manages with aplomb.
I`m getting carried away in this Spring morning sunshine !!!!

Yeah we have a few problems in our midfield. Think the Tom Clarke experiment is now over, and hopefully Flynn played himself out of a future at the club. Goodwin isnt much better and LC seems to realise this.
Looks clear to me that we will be after a proper defensive midfielder (or two) in the summer and that Fkynn, Craney and Goodwin will be on their way/not in the 16...
Collins has ability but is frustrating as he is so inconsistent - if he could up his work rate, get involved more, show for the ball from the two centre backs he would be a player.
But at the moment he drifts for far too long (ie 89 minutes in games he scores in and 90 minutes in those he doesnt) - hopefully LC will work with him closely in the Summer.

Still think Collins goals this season have been excellent and Stan totally dropped him..... agree that we need another midfielder however and two decent strikers... should be an exciting 2 months up until July and pre-season, and just to say that Boothy was excellent again and but for two outstanding saves he might have had 3.... Completely agree. Would probably have had nearer 15 had he played all season. Every goal has either turned a draw into a win, or a loss into a draw.
One of the (few) players of the season for me. The stick he gets is ludicrous.
If we'd had just one striker as prolific, we'd have made the play offs.

I said to my Dad yesterday that I thought Collins was the only player who would have put it away like that in that situation.
The fans love a goal where the player is running onto it, all out of your seat, then to see him slot it cooly away, for me you can't get better than that.

Collins is excellent at those type of goals, hes the fittest player officially on the bleep test ..... lets hope he continues his goal return next season.

He is another though that cant really see or play that killer pass and often gets caught in possession...pretty much all our team suffer from this problem I have to disagree entirely and suggest that he is one of few that can play that killer pass to create a goal. The reason why he does squander possesion every now and again is because he is trying that very ball you believe he cannot do. I dont think we have a single other centre mid that can do it bar Holdsworth! Goodwin wont have hit one all year! I wonder how many assist he has this year?! Ill stick my neck out and say game for game im sure he'll at the very least be second (Roberts maybe infront).

A Brian Stanton for the next magnificence era? With respect, collins will have to improve markedly to compare with stanton who scored goals regularly and created plenty in leagues 4,3 and 2 in old money. He has alot to offer and it will only be fair to judge him with good strikers and a real mobile physical presence alongside him in the centre BUT he has had a number of partners now (worthy, goodwin, flynn, wallwork etc) and none have been able to bring consistent excellence from him. Really hope he goes on and becomes a star as he seems a decent guy who wants to be the best he can but at 22/23 he needs to do it next season big time!!!
