Thanks Belly.
Oi Dan - I like calling people idiots, it makes me feel better about myself.
Turtle - You are encouraging the maltreatment of animals. Is that ever acceptable?

Only if I see it myself Bris!!
I'm being a bit awkward on this one and to be honest, in real life, I don't eat much processed meat. I would probably agree that it's not really good to shove a load of chickens in a barn and just chuck a load of food and water at them until they are big enough to eat.
That said we live in the real world and in the real world shit happens. There are 60 million people in this country. They need to be fed. Not all of them have loads of money or high morals. If they want cheap meat then I'm not going to get upset about a load of chickens being grown in a shed.
I'll still buy the large non-free-range chicken from Sainsbury's this Saturday. Hopefully it will be on offer after this weeks shenanigans. Two free pints!! Bonus.

Lama needs every penny he can to fund his poker career.
I'd rather eat something that hasn't spent it's life shitting on it's mates and vice versa.

It's alright bris, I don't care. I don't buy chicken myself but I can't tell you what kind of chicken Boots/M&S/The Dales Deli have put in my sandwich so I'm not going to get all high and mighty about it.

Too busy for poker of late.
Mich made the most important point earlier....
"I will also say, that the difference in price between an intensively reared chicken, and free range chicken of similar weight is about as much as a pint of beer. "
bris, shove yer priorities up yer ass, if you think I'm giving up a pint so that clucky Mctucky gets a massage and back rub every night, the pint wins every time.

pre packed pre prepared chicken fillets and joints are more expensive pound for pound than buying a whole free range chicken and jointing it yourself. It takes me 5 minutes maximum to joint a chicken and I've still got the carcass and offcuts left to make stock. Also, free range chicken actually tastes better, and pre packed chicken fillets are injected with water to increase their weight,

You need to get that fucking dog snatched by a caninophile if you want to make any proper money out of it, Winge. I can send you a few blurred shots of a lurcher being walked by a woman in Marrakesh if it will help.

Thanks, Winge. Although I have had a couple of other good ideas - such as you buying a decent sofa and some jeans which don't look like you've had an accident in them. ACTually.

Sainsbury's just sent me a letter about their chickens and eggs as part of their response to HFW's programme. It has gone in the recycling.

I think the supermarkets were rather short sighted in their decision not to meet or even reply to him given the fact that these programmes often have a huge public impact. I'm rethinking my loyalty to Waitrose and their apparent ethical meat policy. If they have an ethical meat policy why were they not prepared to take part and talk about it?

I too hate him, Will.. but he's hardly Trustafarian. As long as I can remember he's been the epitome of tweed and Barbour. Or has he changed his look in the last 10 years or so?

you're right bernie - what's the word for a c*** who preaches back to nature utopianism to an audience who couldn't possibly afford the lifestyle that was handed to him on a plate, while sneering at the lumpenproletariat for not showing enough respect to fucking poultry, who has fucking shit hair?

A "total c***"? Probably best to leave it at that - we could spend all day listing his vices. He's also one of those annoying fuckers who talks with his mouth full and making silly sex noises that are supposed to convey how much his trained palate is enjoying this. For example, I heard him on the bastard radio once munching on a chocolate-coated ant while simultaneously banging on about how the pregnant fried cockroach praline he had in Mogadishu was so much better, and he couldn't understand why no one else on the panel had ever tried them or been to Mogadishu. c***
