Can see Bojaj getting game time soon, more by need than desire like.

U21's are 3-1 up at Palace at half time. Bojaj, Charles & a Holmes pen. Wilczynski saved a pen. If I read correctly, Charles crossed for Bojaj's goal, won the penalty that Holmes put away and also scored himself. Not a bad contribution from the lad

Highlights here: www.htafc.com/news/article/huddersfield-crystal-palace-u21s-2676058.aspxThe game was played at Tooting and Mitcham United's ground. Been there quite a few times since it opened about 10 years or so ago. Outrageously good ground for Ryman South league. Very clever design and could quite easily be adapted to league standard if ever they got that far (very unlikely!). Town fan Andy Bullock's dad is (or was) on the Committee at T&MU. Terriers everywhere!

An interesting tweet from Simon Trevitt here which doesn't say much for our existing set up or the reluctance of our manager to pick young players

An interesting tweet from Simon Trevitt here which doesn't say much for our existing set up or the reluctance of our manager to pick young players Simon makes a good point but maybe is being a little literal with the 'signed from school at 16' when many of Simon's teammates were attached to the club (like the current 7 yr olds) at a younger age through the Schoolboy terms back in the day. TBH I thought Simon huimself was signed on schoolboy terms at 14 if my memory of the old Spenborough Guardian article is correct. I know that Lee Martin appeared at Wembley for an England schoolboy U16 team, when they said he represented Huddersfield Town.

It may well be true about them being on associated schoolboy forms but that's a bit different to being part of an academy set up. The main point though is that 9 had played in the first team as teenagers. Similarly when Jackson was manager in the 2003/4 promotion winning team, five or six were teenagers. Fat chance of that happening now despite the millions invested.

I think a certain Mr Bosman and Sky TV money redirected to players in addition to not playing in the bottom division (Re Jacko's kids) means it much harder for today's British youngsters to be playing at Championship level at such a young age. Again I don't disagree that Simon makes a good point, but there were only a handful of foreign footballers playing in English football when Simon et al made their debuts around 30 years ago (wow 30 years ago that makes me feel old!)

Sounded like a civil war had broken out in the background. Surprised they maintained concentration amidst the rockets, planes and gunfire?

In the last ten years we've only had six players make their debut and go on to make more than 20 first team appearances. Young, Berrett, Skarz, Smithies, Ridehalgh and Hunt.
I expect this is a lot to do with moving up a division but hopefully some of the current lot will go on to improve this stat. Holmes only needs one more game to join them for starters!

Nice to see young Harry getting on the scoresheet a couple of times, it may silence those 'only in the team because of his dad' comments until the first team start losing again Oh and C'mon Blackley, you can post when we get on the better side of 4-1 results too

The first goal was such a good corner routine the senior team nicked it a couple of hours later to good effect Great 4th goal played out from the back but that penalty was awful.

Young Spenna is enjoying a good run of form; some tough tackling and an eye for a forward pass.

Both Lolley and Wallace are starting for Scunthorpe today against Southend. Wright is starting for Accrington against Crawley. Hiwula starts for Wigan against Oldham. Coogans was an unused sub for Queen of the South.

U21's won again today, but its seems trialist Leon Best was unable to add to his tally of 6 goals in the last 3 years.

Team today against Ipswich was: Allinson, Hanson, Senior, Holmes, Wilkinson, Kane, Dempsey, Billing, Paterson, Best, Bojaj & subs Coughlan, Wilczynski, Charles Tronstad, Horsfall. Nil all first half and Wilkinson headed home early in the second half in a fiercely contested game in which Town had the edge. Standout players for me were Allinson who made some great saves, Hanson at left back, Senior at right back and Billing in the middle of the park. Wilkinson also had a solid game resulting in him being up for a set piece and scoring. Dempsey put himself about as did Holmes however with little end product. In the first half there were some great crosses across the front of goal without anyone there to finish them off. Paterson had a quiet game however in fairness was played at centre forward. On this showing Leon Best was average and did nothing startling to say he would shine in our first team. All in all a good showing by Town.

Pretty fair summary, however Dempsey was unlucky not to be successful with at least one assist in the first half, putting the ball low across the six yard box with two attackers in there failing to connect.

With regards to Josh Williams and his England youth caps, has anybody watched him play for the academy? England caps indicate he's a good prospect, but do we actually have one of the best English defenders of that age? Just wondered how the England setup go about selecting the youth sides, has Williams played being playing significantly better than his academy teammates and have his performances been standout? Do England scout come and watch the games off their own back, or does our academy contact the England setup to suggest they come and look at him?
Are there any other academy players coming through at a similar level, or is Williams a lone case in our academy at the moment?
Appreciate there's still a long way to go for him, but presumably it bodes well...

Sounds like a decent prospect as he's with Town's U16's but as well as playing for England U17's he's also played 6 times for our U18's so far this season.
