Phew! How lucky was Allinson to get away with that? 3m-46 seconds.

U21s one up at half time against a Sheff Utd side that whinges and moans more than me. Town down to 10 for some reason that even the lino can't explain. Horsfall sent off.

Town 1 Sheffield United 0 Team Ryan in goal, Hanson Senior, Booty, William Boyle (Capt) Horsfall, Duan Holmes, Tronstad, Charles, Pyke, Coughlan, Subs Charlton, Guthrie, Jack Boyle, Kane & Ben Holmes Town were playing well in the first half when inside half an hour Horsfall was sent off for an infringement in their box. Fortunately soon after that the ball broke in their box for Boyle to flick it over the line and go one up. After half time it was mainly backs to the wall with 10 men doing well to defend that one goal lead. It became pretty bad tempered at times with Senior going in the book as well as their number 9 Jake Wright who had comments to make to the referee on far too many occasions in the game. Boyle marshalled the team well and Pyke in particular stood out as a lone forward in the second half where he held the ball up and harried their defence. All in all a very solid performance in difficult circumstances. I spoke to one of their supporters who said 5 of their players had played for the first team so as we had only one who has done so the kids did well.

Senior's body check on their no.9 was fantastic. He deserved everything he got. The ref, who was weak as piss, should have told him to shut up in the first 10 mins. Fullbacks Hanson and Senior played well. There was a scout next to me very interested in Hanson. Been following him for 4 years (in a non dodgy way I assume). Was interesting to see when Horsfall got sent off we played for about 40 mins with one cb one rb and one lb. 342. They only dropped Tronstad back to rb and Hanson to the centre later on as they threatened a bit more. Thought Tronstad did well in his short cameo back there. Charles and Pyke did very little wrong. Another good team performance, especially a man light and refreshing once again that our lads didn't harass the ref no matter how poor he was. Shame the same can't be said for three or four of their lads who wanted to ref the game and almost did.

I was impressed today, and thought that Holmes also had the best match I have seen him play (have been to the last four under 21's). Everyone worked hard, and there was some decent football played. And you are spot on, the ref did not have a good day, and their no 9 was a right idiot, that type of player does get on the nerves.

On a brighter note the 18's kept up the good work beating Birmingham 2-1 with goals from Pyke & Spencer.

Think both teams had a game on the Tuesday night after this one so the quality isn't as good. Any players in the squad for the next day won't get a run out. Think I said at the time that Coventry looked like an u18 side, presumably because most of the 21s would have been in the main squad.

Have to say, if "gengenpressing" is all about attacking through the middle with speed, then our U-18s are pretty much doing this already. Also, the defending at c.2:40 was pretty heroic.

Hard fought 0-1 win for U18s today at Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls rarely threatened the Terriers' goal.

Good game that. Certainly one of two halves. Town should have been more than two up at half time, Leeds were unlucky not to score second half. Bojaj held the ball up really well (still think he's very Fellaini (sp?) like), Pyke worked really well alongside him. Real partnership developing. Bojaj subbed just after half time so probably involved at Sheff Wed. Town did really well to hold out 2nd half, especially with rb Hanson playing at cb and midfielder Trondstad playing at rb. Boyle looked very solid and organised the back 4 well. Duane Holmes looked good, on the whole a very good team performance again.
Leeds had Erwin up front who they think is the next big thing. Looked a bit of a lump and didn't really dominate our under strength defence. Phillips booked for a dive looking for a penalty and their no10 would have been off in a 'proper' game. Fouling, moaning, abusing the ref.
The u21s certainly play more like Wagner would like the 1st team to. Lots of energy and a high work rate throughout the team. Hanson, Senior, Boyle, Holmes, Bojaj could, just could, be able to step up into a 1st team with a similar outlook. Never thought that under Powell and the way they played, Bojaj excepted.

From going to the game today did you pick up any indication as to why Tronstad was left out of the trip to Spain? Given he's already appeared on the bench this season ahead of others it's a bit surprising if he was simply overlooked.

No idea. He played for 10 or 15 minutes at right back against Sheff Utd a couple of weeks ago when we were down to 10 men and did well. Played the full game there today with the usual rb Jabba in the middle. Did nothing wrong at all, kept their winger and marauding left back quiet most of the game. My one criticism is he is nowhere near vocal enough. Very very quiet. At one point he busted a gut to get to the back post for a decent move, but never once opened his mouth. To me he's good enough if he wants it. Not sure why but I don't know if he does. That won't go unnoticed.
