Alan Nixon seems to believe no fee has been agreed and he is playing tonight unless something happens, hoping he is correct!

Dont know how you can class brighton as a bigger club though, a few years ago they were getting 5-6k averages, years since they were in the top flight too. There transfer activity hasnt been the most impressive in this window either, we have just as much of a chance as them of being promoted They are a far bigger club than Boro. Your crowds aren't exactly owt to right home about are they, their home crowds virtually double yours. But I suppose if crowds had anything to do with it Man Utd would be the biggest club in England.........oh hang on minute

Forget the bigger club thing mate, hiding to nothing. Boro - akin to us and a lot of Northern old school clubs are not what they have been.

They don't have mine & I doubt they ever will have again. Don't blame you, disgrace IMO. Hope so! we went on a run of about 7 games without scoring at one point lol which ultimately cost us a playoff place, hopefully these new signings will stop a repeat of that

Just like we sold Stewart to our rivals when we were top of the league. I expected better of Deano tbh.

In fact I've put money on them and that's before Clayton signed.

So is this local rag more accurate than sky or the others who all said Clayton was going to Brighton last week?
1 out 2 in this week.

Clayton wasn't going to be the difference between staying up and going down. Take the money and move on

It's a difficult one. Undoubtedly Clayton was one of the top performers during the second half of the season, but we shouldn't forget that he was poor for a good few months at the start of the season, which may well suggest that he looked poor in a team that was trying to play fast passing, counter attacking football (and doing so quite successfully), but looked good in a team that was disjointed and lacked any real attacking purpose. In fact, when he and Paterson were withdrawn from the first team after their bust up, there was far more annoyance at Paterson not playing (given our lack of striking options at the time) than Clayton, because most thought that Clayton wouldn't be missed. In terms of his contribution to the team, he was one of our top scorers, and we will probably miss his goals (unless Norwood and Majewski fill in the space) but he must also shoulder a portion of the blame for the isolation of Wells in the second half of the season. I do not for one second believe that Hogg was told by Robins to play as an attacking midfielder, but he was the only CM who had the pace, desire, initiative and/or fitness to get up and support the striker - neither Clayton nor Norwood really did this. This seems to be overlooked and all of the blame put on Robins' tactics, but I think all of the CMs are to blame for it, particularly Norwood and Clayton who are supposed to be our creative midfielders picking passes in CM! What other reason would they be on the pitch? I don't think it's a coincidence that Grayson put Clayton on the wing when he had the choice between Norwood and Clayton in the middle, and I don't think it's a coincidence that Clayton seems to have been tactically moved about the CM by Robins - I don't think anybody (even Clayton) really knows what role he is best at. Contrast that with Hogg (sit in front of the defence, hassle players and slow the attack down), Norwood (pick the ball up from the back and start moves off from deep) and Majewski (get the ball further up and fully link with the strikers) - Clayton could have been a good box to box midfielder but as suggested above, there was something (I don't think it was entirely Robins) preventing him from doing that. If we replace him with a defensive minded midfielder, I think we could see a far more balanced midfield this year and one that brings the best out of Norwood (incidentally, whose good form was in the first half of the season when we were playing good football). We definitely need to bring another CM in to replace him, though. Holmes should develop to be challenging Majewski by the end of the season, if he is going to make it at Town, and will be a good player to step in for a few games if/when necessary. However, from what I've seen of Billing he's too lightweight at the moment to provide real backup for the other two, same with Tronstad. Peltier could do a job there, but even in L1 it felt like he was a defender making do in midfield. A player like Hogg but who can pass the ball consistently would be ideal, but I don't really know who there is out there! Brilliant post

No thanks pal, but I will post my opinion, who the hell are you anyway I am guessing someone else who is entitled to their opinion and maybe someone that takes issue with you calling the decision to sell Clayton who hasn't signed a contract extension with us a 'disgrace', maybe Dean Hoyle expects more of you than to throw your toys from the pram.
