South Stand just isn't viable at the moment. It'd be on and off, which wouldn't help building a core group of support there. Minimum away allocation has to be at least 2,000 I think and most teams will bring that many. Besides, in a stadium where there will be generally between 6-10k spare seats, not giving away fans the maximum possible allocation would be suicidal. Average away attendance at Town last season was around 1200....If we can get a minimum 1500 to commit to going in the SS every week then financially it's a winner all round.....We had 894 in the NS on Saturday....Nearly there. Really hope you get them numbers scoff and get the opportunity to go in the SS and show everybody how good it could especially after the stir NSL has created in such a short space of time.

You have to be careful how you draw your conclusions though. I was one of those 894, but probably wouldnt go in the South Stand given the choice. Ive been in there in the past (vs Port Vale I think many years ago, and then a couple of times in the recent experiments), and concluded its my personal least favourite stand of the ground to watch games from. Theres a big gap behind the goal, and the stand isnt steeply raked, so your further away from the action at any particular height than you are elsewhere. It feels disjointed from the game to me. I'm sure some folk would take up that stand, but just remember not everyone going in the North Stand this year is doimg it because they ultimately want to get in the South Stand. (I'msure if the enthusiasm and organisation that the NSL movers and shakers are bringing to the table got behind it, it would be more successful than previously though).

The North Stand Experiment has worked in the sense it has stopped the 150 town fans moaning about how we should have a "cowshed" end like we used to have. However it has to be filled up with massive flags as otherwise it would look even more empty!
The only thing that will actually improve the atmosphere in the ground is better/winning football and another 3k of fans.

All this talk of the South Stand is premature...it may happen in the future but there's a long way to go yet... For now let's concentrate on 'walking' before we start to jog, let alone run ....starting tonight

Is there a contingency in the design that the corners can be filled in? or would that not be possible? If it was, it would add q few more thousand seats......making the stadium even more empty.. Given the position of the stand roofs concrete supports I don't think there is scope to add seats in the corners. What I had in mind was 'blanking off' the ends of the stands (Wigan have done that at their ground). If you look at the Kilner bank, for example, the ends are about 1/3rd blanked now with perspex sheets (or whatever)..that just needs extending all the way up to the top. I think the DG stand might be the same. I have seen some grounds where the corners are squared off to hide the pylons... can't remember which but Barnsley have a corner which has been filled in.... It's certainly not an impossible task given the technology these days, but I can't see KSDL stumping up £250k to do it...maybe Dean and Ken will chip in £125k each ? Would be good if Town could just have someone come in and do a few designs and price them up...maybe a job for SLO then we'd know the cost and perhaps we could have a whip round... Aren't those areas (or at least the two facing the TV cameras) prime advertising spots. Couldn't they be filled in with hoarding or large advertising banners?

We all need to concentrate our efforts on improving the north stand as much as possible before we dream of a full stadium and the south as our home end. Big effort is needed for tonight and with 2 new flags and a load of loud voices we can prove people wrong. UTT

What the club needs to do, is have a survey at home matches just to see what age the majority of our fans are, and take it from there. This might show the ongoing trend to ascertain who exactly is coming through the turnstiles and more importantly, who is not.

Therefore the club know the exact demographic without having to do a pointless survey. Modern technology eh

Town have done surveys already. ATT survey. And what was the outcome of the A T T survey . I reckon the following, most but not all of which has been delivered. People want a cheaper bigger programme with less ads. Also a striker. Less insistence on playing constant music up to kick off. A "home end". Cheaper better quality food and drink with a wider selection. A new manager. Exciting football to watch.

Has this idea of filling the corners in with perspex /advertising boards ever been brought up in a meeting? Sounds like a great idea to me! UTT

Does the SLO subscribe to DATM ?... maybe these questions could be put to him and he can then let us know what the verdict is when he talks to whoever he reports to ? Not sure what his role is exactly but we can find him planty of tasks to take forward I reckon...

Does anyone know who the SLO is, whats involved in his role and what kind of communication there's supposed to be with fans etc?
Prolly needs a thread of its own.

well if he's brave enough to go on twitter, then DATM should be a veritable love in for him... seriously though, shouldn't we be 'liaising' with him over the issues / questions we have...isn't that his raison d'etre ?

Well done NSL ... Just like the team .. After a few lacklustre displays you laid down a base tonight.... Get another 500 in and it will rock

A big thank you to Lee for the Lillis banner and a big thank you to Lillis for joining us in the first half and singing loud and proud. Absolute legend.

I was sat in the Kilner tonight because my uncle was up for the game, and I thought the NSL looked and sounded great. Louder than the singing section nearer he away fans.
