That's a great shout thank you. I didn't know you could use contactless cards best to check your debit card actually has the symbol on it, and that your bank have 'enabled' it. The first time you use it you may need to enter your PIN, so perhaps have a go at a shop that takes contactless by making a small purchase (it's only valid forsmaller amounts I believe)..Once you've 'activated' it this way, future transactions should not need a PIN...but you don't want to be trying to use it for the first time at the tube station if you're worried about the 'tut tuts' from other passengers... [/quote Lads - my understanding of the contactless system on TFL is that you need to register with TFL first and give them details of the credit card you will use. Otherwise it doesn't work - and can you imagine the chaos at the ticket barrier ..... Yu also have to make sure you contact the card when you are leaving the tube station, otherwise the computer won't know how far you've travelled and will charge you the max each journey - though the daily max of £7.00 should kick in at the end of the day. I don't think you have to enter the PIN. I can't recall having done so on any other contactless transactions.

You don't have to register contactless payment cards with TFL.
As previously stated, you will need to have used it before (say in a newsagent) where it will ask for a PIN the first time you use it. Ticket barriers do not have PIN readers so it will not let you through if you haven't used it before.
If you have two contactless cards in you wallet I would take the one out you want to use. Otherwise, you can clock in with one and out with the other.......and be charged two maximum journey fares (2 x £7(?)) which makes it an expensive journey!
You can also use it on buses and it they will also count towards your daily cap.

i take it we are standing at this game? and not sitting down because some nobody in a yellow jacket wants us to It's often not the stewards, it's the once a season warriors that whinge and whinge sit dowwwwwwwwn I've paid twenny five pouuuuuuuuund for this Although I am 55 years old, thankfully I can still stand for a game (and go to the toilet on my own which is a bonus!)At QPR last year the majority of us had to stand to even see the goal at our end. However an elderly gentleman in his 70's was in the seat next to me and cannot have seen any of the game which considering the day out and costs involved he could have reasonably been expected to watch the match. Maybe if we do see people like this in the future we collectively try and get them into a seat at the front.

This is an issue that I've experienced from every side! I always like to stand up because it improves the atmosphere massively. However, it's very common that people behind me get annoyed and shout for me to sit down. I remember once at MK Dons I suggested to one man that he should go and sit further over to the left where everyone else was sat down, and his wife said 'we've paid for these seats'. I told her that I had also paid for my seat but I would prefer to stand like everyone is around me is doing, at this point the guy pointed in my face and called me a 'f***ing cu**'. About 2 minutes later, they moved further to the left as I had suggested On the flip side, I remember seeing an old boy struggling to stand up, and he had to take regular breaks and have a sit down. I did feel bad for him as he obviously couldn't see the match when he had sat down. What we really need is safe standing areas! I really hope this happens one day. In terms of Fulham boozers, I'll be going to the Crabtree in Hammersmith for about 11.30 and then joining the rest of you in the eight bells later on!

As you say alternatively is to just tap it on one of the machines down there and it'll tell you how much is on it.

remember lads, they are not like us in that there London. Look out for loose women, ugly blokes dressed as ugly women and scoundrels of all shapes/sizes/types.. no kicking beggars(its strangely no longer allowed) and if you meet any of the extended Royal Family, they are not to be addressed as "cock, mate or big ears/big nose(whichever applies) or love, sweetheart, sexbomb etc if female.
keep your wits about you in the more 'common' areas and keep your hand on your shillings and beware of 'Peelers' they have little sense of humour. Do not get talked into checking out the mysteries of the "Orient", its hugely disappointing and if local ner do wells speak of a "Crystal Palace" or a "Tower Hamlet" these are places that do not fulfil the expectations of their name.
Horseless black cabs can be utilised by the intrepid Northern traveller, unlicensed vehicles bearing strange names in neon and garish coloured livery are to be avoided as they are driven by foreign types who would part a weary traveller from his shillings in the blink of an eye.
keep safe and you can regail your friends and relatives with tales of architectural wonderment and diversity of race from the big city in Taverns for years to come.
see you tomorrow in Fulham.
